Some may think I'm crazy to spend an afternoon during vacation in Greece with four flights. Sure, for the majority there is no point in flying to the island of Chios for just 25 minutes. However, I need this Mileage Run with Aegean Airlines to extend my Star Alliance Gold frequent flyer status for another year.
Once you have a frequent flyer status, you want to defend it every year. I have had Star Alliance Gold status with Greek airline Aegean Airlines for almost five years. Since we hardly took any air travel due to the birth of our son in January this year, a mileage run was necessary to extend the status.
The Aegean Business Lounge is located at the end of the departure gates of Thessaloniki Airport, after going through security. One of the biggest advantages is boarding directly from the lounge for every flight in the Schengen area. I think the design is extremely successful. The interior designer was inspired by a film set when selecting the furniture.
