Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 Changi

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 Changi

After arriving on Singapore Airlines from Kuala Lumpur, we made our way from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3. We could have also gone to the Business Lounge in Terminal 2, but I had read that the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 only reopened in November 2021 after extensive renovation and expansion work. You can find out whether the journey was worth it in the lounge review.

Where is the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 located?

The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge in Terminal 3 is located near Gates A1 to A8. If Singapore is the departure airport and not a connecting airport like ours, you have to keep left after exit control.

The SilverKris Lounge is located one floor above the departure level. The entrance or escalator to the upper floor is identified by a 12 meter wide art installation on the wall with Singapore Airlines' signature batik motif. Once at the top, you find yourself in the oval entrance area to the business and first class lounge. What is striking is the large curved LED wall, which shows various animations of the batik motif.

Who has access to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3?

The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Terminal 3 is open 24 hours a day. The access rules are slightly stricter than other airlines. Only passengers flying from Singapore with a First or Business Class ticket from Singapore Airlines or other Star Alliance partners have access to the lounge. In addition, Singapore Airlines only grants access to the most loyal status customers of its own frequent flyer program. Other Star Alliance Gold status customers without a business class ticket only receive access to the significantly worse Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

How is the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 equipped?

The newly renovated Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 is located on the site of the former First Class Lounge and Private Room. While the old business lounge was very dark and dignified, the newly designed lounge benefits from its current location and the associated daylight.

After the entrance, the lounge is divided into two main areas. On the left is the large restaurant or buffet area and on the right is a lounge area with a bar, which is open to the terminal like a kind of gallery. The bar has several seating areas, two televisions showing news and sports, and a bartender at certain times. In the morning the bar is a barista station and cocktails are served in the evening. Unfortunately, the bar was not occupied during our lunchtime stay. However, there are plenty of options to stock up on non-alcoholic and various alcoholic drinks - but more on that in the next chapter.

After the bar, the lounge opens into an open area with various sofa groups, lounge chairs and high tables with stools. The designers designed this area with modern furniture in deep blue contrasting with tan and gray leather sofas and white marble tabletops. Several so-called productivity pods are lined up along the wall. These seating areas are upholstered in blue leather, equipped with a reading lamp and acoustically and visually isolated from the rest of the lounge by a surrounding wall design. Each pod is equipped with a wireless charging pad, a universal power outlet and two USB-A ports.

The largest part of the lounge is taken up by the large restaurant or buffet area to the left of the entrance area. After the entrance there is an area with a customer service desk, a meeting room with a whiteboard and TV screen and a small pop-up shop from the KrisFlyer frequent flyer program. In front of the actual restaurant area is a small seating area with four rows of blue individual chairs separated by tables with wireless charging pads and power outlets. This is followed by the buffet area and the open kitchens with live cooking stations. There are many different tables and seating areas available for dining. Overall, the warm lighting makes the room look very inviting and like a chic dining room.

The remaining part of the business lounge is equipped with various armchairs arranged in rows or groups, bar tables, high-back throne chairs, a soundproof play area for children as well as a telephone booth, productivity pods and a relaxation area with lounge chairs.

There are two toilets in the lounge, a smaller one near the bar and a larger one near the restaurant area. There are also 15 shower rooms, each with its own toilet. The showers and washrooms are clad in a mix of white and gray marble. The washrooms also contain some utensils such as wet razors and toothbrushes.

What is there to eat and drink in the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3?

The dining options are very extensive for a business lounge. At the various buffets, both Asian and Western dishes are offered in warming containers. During our stay we were able to choose between dim sum, lasagne and chicken nuggets with fries. If you can't find what you're looking for despite the large selection, you can usually get two additional dishes prepared at the live cooking stations. I take the opportunity and have a fresh bowl of Laksa Noodles prepared for me.

In addition to the hot food, there are also refrigerated shelves with pre-packaged sandwiches, fresh ingredients for salads, fruit offerings, various baked goods and desserts. A highlight for our son was the offer of maki sushi with cucumber and crabs.

The highlight of the range of drinks in the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 Changi is certainly the bar. Here fresh coffee specialties are prepared by a barista from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and cocktails are served in the evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m . In addition to the offerings at the bar, there are several drink buffets in the lounge. These offer soft drinks, water, juices, coffee and TWG tea specialties as well as various spirits. In addition to a large selection of wines from a digital wine refrigerator, two bottles of Piper Heidsieck Essentiel champagne were also available for physical well-being. For technology fans like us, the fully automatic dispenser for Japanese Asahi beer was another highlight of the lounge.

Summary

We almost gave the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 the full score of 5 stars. We have never experienced the exclusive furnishings and extensive range of food and drinks in a business lounge. There is a small point deduction for service. It would have been nice if the bar had been open during the day too.
