Our last day in Singapore wasn't really exciting. We had to leave our hotel at 12 noon (Fragrance Hotel) are concocted.
Singapore Orchard Road
To make the most of the day, we went into town around 9 o'clock. From the MRT station "City Hall" we walked through Fort Canning Park to Orchard Road. Along this street, one large shopping center follows the next. At Orchard Central, there are a few restaurants on the 12th floor. From there you have a good view of the business center of Singapore with its skyscrapers.
Transfer to Singapore Changi International Airport
Changi International Airport has excellent public transport connections. Like many places in Singapore, the airport is very clean. We were surprised that, for example, there was at least one cleaner on every toilet we visited and mopped every few minutes. We were a little surprised about the security checks. There is no central "fiddly booth", but each gate is handled separately. This, of course, minimizes waiting times for passengers. There was a moment of horror when a large cloud of smoke rose at about the height of one of the runways. Unfortunately, we couldn't find out what was happening, but luckily there was no plane involved.
Flight with AirAsia Indonesia QZ 8493
With AirAsia Indonesia QZ 8493 we took off around 4 p.m. in the direction of Denpasar on Bali. During the 2h30min flight we crossed the equator for the first time. As usual in these latitudes, we had some turbulence, but otherwise everything went normally.
Entry into Bali
After the problem-free entry with a visa on arrival (cost: 25 USD, but also possible in EUR) we felt like we had been transported back to the time when we arrived in Vietnam. Everyone talks to you and wants to rent out your taxi or car. Annoying! We negotiated with some car rental companies and ended up taking a Suzuki Jeep (built in 2004) for 750,000 IRP (about 63 EUR) for five days. Of course, this car does not pass a German TÜV in life, but for the few laps on the island and with a slow driving style on our part, it will make it.
We were not able to move into our reserved room in the hotel. Supposedly they were renovating, but there were probably 50 police motorcycles in front of the door. That's why I think it was fully booked. However, the reception had already organized an alternative hotel for us. To get there, a moped was sent ahead of us, which we followed through the rush hour traffic. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. Here, at the Nirwana Hotel, it is really very clean and we are looking forward to finally being able to sleep undisturbed again.
