Kuala Lumpur's Orchid Garden (Taman Orchid) boasts around 800 orchid species, some of them rare. The garden is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We took the LRT (light rail) to Pasar Sein station and walked through the station and down several streets toward the Perdana Botanical Garden. The orchid garden (Taman Orkid) is located on a small hill in downtown Kuala Lumpur. We continued uphill past the Kesenian Islam Museum. The garden is well signposted and is located across from the more famous bird park, so it's almost impossible to get lost.
The entrance fee was supposed to be 1 MYR (0.25€) on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, but we couldn't find a ticket booth or anyone there to collect the tickets. So we just entered the orchid garden.
The orchids and other plants are truly beautiful! There are various orchid species to admire here that we're either completely unfamiliar with in Germany or that are very expensive here. We would have loved to have packed some for ourselves.
We'd read on various blogs that you're supposed to get a great view of Kuala Lumpur from here. However, we couldn't confirm this. A detour is worthwhile just for the many colorful flowers. If you don't mind the uphill walk, you can also take a taxi for the "mountain ride" at a relatively low cost.
