Rainforest Chalet im Berjaya Langkawi Resort

Our second hotel on the island of Langkawi was the Berjaya Langkawi Resort. When we arrived at 2 p.m., our room or the Rainforest Chalet we had booked was not yet ready. The process at reception was very unprofessional for a 4-star hotel and took forever. Maybe we were just unlucky with the staff.

Check-in

To bridge the waiting time, we were given two vouchers for a fruit punch at reception. We should redeem these in the windowless sports bar “Rimbar Lounge”, which is really only suitable for watching football. After we had emptied our fruit juice, we were finally able to move into our chalet, to which we were taken by a small shuttle bus.

How are the rooms (Rainforest Chalet) at Berjaya Langkawi Resort?

The condition of our Rainforest Chalet was okay – although not really at a 4-star level. Although the rooms had been recently renovated, they already seemed very worn out. However, there was nothing to complain about in terms of cleanliness; bed linen, bathroom, etc. were impeccable. The size of the chalet was satisfactory as with two large suitcases there was hardly any space to step on. Unfortunately, there was a busy ant highway running right through the middle of the bathroom, which couldn't really be driven away even with the use of insect spray. The last negative point of the room was the leaky air conditioning. But it still cooled the room very pleasantly.

We really loved the nature around our chalet. As the name suggests, we were really in the middle of the rainforest. Here we had pure nature! It can happen that different monkeys and other animals appear in front of the window. That's why you shouldn't leave anything on the balcony and always keep the windows closed.

Was bietet das Berjaya Langkawi Resort?

The hotel in general is just huge and very spacious. There is more of a feeling of mass processing, which is particularly noticeable at breakfast. The selection at the buffet is good and tasty, but everything is carelessly prepared. Sometimes the staff can't keep up with the refills. You can choose from western hot and cold dishes such as omelettes, pancakes or various types of bread as well as Asian specialties.

The staff could be a bit friendlier throughout the hotel. Only by the pool were you always in a good mood. Complaints, such as towels being forgotten in the room, were dealt with quickly and delivered by moped.

The hotel's free shuttle buses run on gasoline engines, which are very noisy and can be annoying in the evenings. A switch to electric motors would not only be good for the environment! At peak times we sometimes had to wait a long time for a free shuttle. That's why we always walked from the room to the lobby, as it was mostly downhill. The shuttle can also be ordered by telephone from your room.

What does the Berjaya Langkawi Resort offer for relaxation?

The pool area is beautifully laid out, but rather small for so many hotel guests and also something for children to splash around in.

An absolute highlight is the beach at the Berjaya Langkawi Resort. It is wide and has beautiful white sand. The water here isn't really clear either, but that doesn't bother you because it's definitely refreshing. There are enough loungers and parasols available and free of charge. All sorts of water sports activities are offered on the beach and the hotel's entertainment program can be found on a board by the pool. There is definitely something for everyone here.

Summary

The Berjaya Langkawi Resort would have done well to not just focus on mass tourism. The unique location in the jungle could have been used to make a great premium product. Nevertheless, we can recommend the Berjaya Langkawi Resort to spoiled nature lovers.
