Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-400 Economy Class, New York to Frankfurt

Our Boeing 747-400

After a farewell burger at brgr, we went back to the hotel around 5 p.m. to collect our luggage. It took us about 20 minutes on subway line E from the hotel to Jamaica Station. There we transferred to the AirTrain (cost $5 USD). This took us to Terminal 4. Check-in and security went smoothly without any long waits. This allowed us to relax a bit at the gate, and I even managed to take a picture of "our" Boeing 747-400. Singapore Airlines together with an Emirates Airbus A380.

Dinner, return flight
Dinner, return flight

The flight was relatively smooth, apart from a few patches of turbulence over the North Atlantic. Just 45 minutes after takeoff, the crew began dinner service. I chose "Phanang Moo: Thai-style pork curry with peanuts, mixed vegetables, and rice" from the menu. I also had a glass of Chardonnay. The Screwdiver, which I'd already drunk shortly after takeoff, was now starting to make me feel tired. Breakfast was served over the British Isles. It consisted of penne with tomato and basil sauce and cheese.

Despite a delay in New York, we arrived in Frankfurt early. Immigration was also quite quick. The unpleasant surprise came when we got back to the parking garage! I became suspicious when I could no longer unlock the doors with the remote. We must have left the front reading lights on, and now the battery was dead. Unfortunately, the parking garage didn't have a jump starter. I personally find this very disappointing, as I'm certainly not the first person to have this problem. Luckily, an ADAC (German Automobile Club) employee was waiting outside and was able to help us.

Christian

My name is Christian, I was born in the green heart of Germany and studied computer engineering in Ilmenau. Today, I live with my wife Christin and our son in Merseburg, but work in Leipzig as a product manager. For me, travelling has always been more than just a change of scenery. I loved getting on a plane, discovering new cuisines and feeling at home in special hotels. This mixture of enjoyment, curiosity and wanderlust was the reason why I started writing about my experiences on this blog back in 2007. Whether it was a spontaneous weekend adventure or a big trip across continents, I wanted to share my passion and show how many beautiful stories the world has to offer. And to this day, I am always on the lookout for the next place that will surprise me.
