I have visited the California metropolis of San Francisco several times, but the city is still worth a visit. Before my departure, I had something to think about due to the strong air pollution caused by the forest fires in the immediate vicinity (November 2018). Nach einer erlebnisreichen Zeit in Toronto machten wir uns am frühen Nachmittag auf den Weg zu einem der größten Naturwunder Nordamerikas - den Niagarafällen. Obwohl die Strecke nur rund 130 Kilometer beträgt, benötigten wir fast zwei Stunden für die Fahrt. Der dichte Sonntagsverkehr und der bevorstehende Victoria Day - ein kanadischer Feiertag - sorgten für viel Betrieb auf den Straßen.
Unser Tag in Toronto begann mit schlechtem Wetter, wie es der Wetterbericht vorausgesagt hatte. Der Blick aus dem Fenster zeigte tiefhängende Wolken, Regen und Wind – keine optimalen Bedingungen für eine Stadterkundung. Wir änderten spontan unsere Pläne und beschlossen, den Tag mit Aktivitäten drinnen zu verbringen.
On our road trip through the Midwest of the USA, a stop in Detroit, the "Motor City", was of course a must. Detroit is a city full of contrasts that fascinates with its lively art scene, historic architecture and exciting history. Just around the corner is Ann Arbor, a charming university town with cosy cafés, independent bookshops and green parks.

Our second day in Traverse City got off to a very leisurely start and we didn't set off on our tour until around 10.00 am. We drove to the Old Mission Peninsula, a headland that juts out into Grand Travers Bay.
In the second part of our road trip through the Midwest of the USA, we travelled further north into Michigan. Our destination for the day was the Sleeping Bear Dunes, which are located near the "Cherry Capital" of Traverse City. This place has a special meaning for me. After two eventful days in Chicago, we now start our road trip through the Midwest of the USA. Our first destination was the city of Cadillac in the state of Michigan. On the way we visited the biggest tulip festival in Holland. What else we visited, you will find out in the following article.
The day before, the CityPASS was definitely worth it and we had a lot of fun. On our second day in Chicago, we visited the natural history museum "The Field Museum", the Adler Planetarium, went to the top of Chicago's tallest building and ended the day in Millennium Park.

Boeing's largest and most important production facility is located around 50 kilometres north of Seattle. Right next to Paine Field Airport (Snohomish Country Airport), the Boeing 747, 767, 777 and 787 wide-body aircraft are manufactured in the second largest building in the world. As with every visit to Seattle, we went planespotting at the Boeing plant.
What can you see in Seattle? Thanks to the Seattle CityPASS, you can visit five of Seattle's most beautiful attractions and also save on admission. When you buy the pass, you will receive a small booklet containing the tickets for the attractions. All you have to do on site is show your ticket booklet.
