The Lufthansa Group flies more than 20 times a day from Leipzig/Halle Airport to destinations in Germany and Europe. It's only fitting, then, that there's also a Lufthansa Senator Lounge in Leipzig/Halle. On my way to Munich, I found it completely renovated and would like to briefly introduce it in this lounge review.

Where is the Lufthansa Senator Lounge located in Leipzig/Halle?
After security, take the stairs to your right into the main departure hall and turn right again immediately. You'll then be standing in front of the entrance to the Lufthansa Senator and Business Lounge. At the friendly reception desk, your boarding pass will be scanned, separating the wheat from the chaff. Lufthansa Business Lounge guests must turn left, while Lufthansa Senators and Star Alliance Gold members may turn right.

Who has access to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Leipzig/Halle?
All passengers with Lufthansa Senator or comparable Star Alliance Gold frequent flyer status have access to the lounge. Additionally, guests with a valid Star Alliance First Class ticket departing from Leipzig also have lounge access. Eligible passengers may also bring one guest.

What are the facilities like in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Leipzig/Halle?
The seating area in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Leipzig Airport is only half the size of the Business Lounge, as potentially less capacity is required. The furnishings reflect the new design. Earth tones dominate the color scheme, creating a relaxed and exclusive atmosphere. The modernization was absolutely necessary, as until recently the lounge still featured heavy, dark blue furniture from the previous design line. Beyond the buffet is a high table with six bar stools. This space is ideal for both eating and working. Two wall-mounted power outlets are also available for the latter.

In the rear of the lounge, there are two seating areas with comfortable leather armchairs and sofas. Brown and ochre tones dominate here as well. Artificial plants and small tables separate the individual seating areas. There is also a separate work area. However, this was occupied during my visit, so unfortunately I don't have a photo of it.

What food and drinks are available in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Leipzig/Halle?
The food selection in the Senator Lounge is, in short, limited. There are hot dogs and chilled slices of meatloaf. Various salads, pickles, olives, and cheese are also available. Shortly after my arrival in the lounge, goulash soup was also offered.

The beverage selection is standard for Lufthansa lounges. It includes 12-year-old Highland Park whisky, various fruit brandies, and Jägermeister. I appreciate the inclusion of Rotkäppchen sparkling wine, a nice local touch. Non-alcoholic options include Albi juices, the typical Coca-Cola soft drinks, and Goldberg ginger ale and tonic water. And of course, for caffeine lovers, there's a WMF coffee machine.

Update (25.08.2021): Lufthansa Senator Lounge Leipzig closed
Unfortunately, Lufthansa has decided to no longer operate the lounge in Leipzig. There is currently no alternative for status customers at Leipzig/Halle Airport.
