SAS Airbus A319-100 Economy Class, Berlin to Copenhagen
…
For our return flight in SWISS Economy Class Airbus A340-300 from Singapore to Zurich, I only wrote a short trip report. Details about the aircraft cabin and the seats in SWISS Economy Class can be found in the trip report of the outbound flight.
After checking out of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur, we travelled by LRT and KLIA Express to the international airport. The journey took an hour in total, with a short wait at KL Sentral. We flew to Singapore with an airline that was new to me - Jetstar Asia Economy Class.
As HHonors Gold members, we had three Hilton hotels to choose from for our stay in Kuala Lumpur. We chose the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur due to its good value and central location. Read our review to find out what our impressions of the hotel were.
Langkawi Airport is a typical small tourist airport. The routes are short, and the lines, at least on this Saturday, weren't long either. We flew to Kuala Lumpur on a Malaysia Airlines Economy Class Boeing 737-800.
We actually only drove up the 890-meter-high Gunung Raya because of an "Earthcache" geocache. Gunung Raya is the highest mountain on the Malaysian island of Langkawi. Even the 20-minute winding road up offered all sorts of attractions along the roadside: cows, monkeys, iguanas, and the deep green jungle to the left and right. Truly amazing!
Panorama Langkawi, or Langkawi Sky Cab, has been the island's tourist highlight since its opening in 2002. A 2-kilometer-long cable car takes you to lofty heights on Mount Machinchang. The view from Machinchang Mountain is unique. On a clear day, you can see several kilometers of untouched nature.
Since we wanted to explore the island on our own, we absolutely needed a rental car in Langkawi. We were driven from our hotel, The Danna Langkawi, to the airport. In the arrivals hall, I immediately started looking for the major companies in the industry. But I could have saved myself the time – Avis, Budget, Hertz, and the like aren't represented here.
The hotel's own shuttle bus took us from the Grand Mercure Roxy to Terminal 1 of Singapore Changi International Airport without any traffic jams or delays. From there, we travelled to Langkawi on an AirAsia Economy Class Airbus A320-200.
For our stay in Singapore, we had reserved a room at the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy for three nights. After arriving at the airport, we went to the Ground Transportation desk on the arrivals level. There, we received information about the departure time and location of the free hotel shuttle. Unfortunately, we missed the bus by 10 minutes and had to wait another 50 minutes.
The plan was for us to land in Zurich at 4.30 pm, coming from Berlin. Due to the strong hurricane Niklas, we arrived three hours later. From Gate A81 we walked to the SWISS Senator Lounge before boarding the SWISS Economy Class Airbus A340-300 to Singapore.
