Washington D.C. - Sights in the rain

White House

Before heading back home on Sunday afternoon, I really wanted to take the opportunity to see the sights of Washington D.C. and the National Air and Space Museum at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Centre. Unfortunately, the weather didn't play ball and it rained all day.

After I yesterday in another part of the USA, I wanted to see Washington D.C. today. The weather is terrible; it's been raining all day. But I'm still trying to see most of the sights. I'm taking the Washington Flyer bus from the airport to the West Falls Church Metro station. The train then goes on to downtown.

More impressions of Washington DC sights in the rain

After a good five hours of running in the rain, I'm heading to Shake Shake to get a fortifying dinner. It was a friend's recommendation. It's probably one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. I'll definitely take a small one with me on the subway. :-)

I'm packing for my flight home. But before heading back home on Sunday afternoon, I definitely want to take the opportunity to visit the Air and Space Museum at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Washington, D.C.

On the day of my departure, I wanted to visit one of the most beautiful aviation museums anywhere. A shuttle bus took me directly from the hotel to the museum in ten minutes. From then on, I had three hours to see everything. Admission was free. There are two enormous halls: one for civilian and military aircraft, and another dedicated to space travel. The exhibition featured exhibits from all eras of aviation. The Space Shuttle impressed me the most.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to explore the exhibition in detail, but it was enough to get a good first impression. Until next time! You can find more information on the official website. Museum website.

Robert

Hi, I'm Robert and I've been infected with the flying virus since my first flight in 1993 in a Tupolev Tu-154. Chances of recovery are zero. Since I've been working even more intensively with mileage programmes and am Topbonus Platinum and Star Alliance Gold, everything has become even worse. :-) One of my good fortunes is that I have a very understanding family who enjoy sharing my passion with me and benefit from it. In summer 2015, we moved from Berlin to near Munich and now have a great and, above all, functioning airport right on our doorstep. So there will be many more exciting journeys and pictures, I'm glad you're with me!
