United Arab Emirates with a toddler

Phew, the weather is always miserable in November. Why not fly to the sun when it's getting wet and cold in Germany? It's always sunny and warm in the United Arab Emirates, so this was our first long-haul trip with our young son. But is a Muslim country the right choice, and how will the child cope with the heat? A different culture, different food, different people... find out how relaxing and child-friendly the United Arab Emirates are in the following article.

Singapore Airlines Training Centre - A look behind the scenes

An aircraft must be evacuated within 90 seconds. To ensure they can respond correctly and quickly in an emergency, airlines regularly train their personnel. Langkawi: Gunung Raya

We actually only drove up the 890-meter-high Gunung Raya because of an "Earthcache" geocache. Gunung Raya is the highest mountain on the Malaysian island of Langkawi. Even the 20-minute winding road up offered all sorts of attractions along the roadside: cows, monkeys, iguanas, and the deep green jungle to the left and right. Truly amazing!

Panorama Langkawi, or Langkawi Sky Cab, has been the island's tourist highlight since its opening in 2002. A 2-kilometer-long cable car takes you to lofty heights on Mount Machinchang. The view from Machinchang Mountain is unique. On a clear day, you can see several kilometers of untouched nature.

Travelling around Langkawi in a hire car

Since we wanted to explore the island on our own, we absolutely needed a rental car in Langkawi. We were driven from our hotel, The Danna Langkawi, to the airport. In the arrivals hall, I immediately started looking for the major companies in the industry. But I could have saved myself the time – Avis, Budget, Hertz, and the like aren't represented here.
