For our first vacation since the beginning of the pandemic, we decided to travel by car. We felt the situation was simply too uncertain for air travel. The decision quickly fell on southern Poland, partly due to the low incidence rates. Katowice Airport is Poland's third-largest airport in terms of passengers. Lufthansa currently offers a total of 21 flights per week. This means the number of passengers is too small for a dedicated airport lounge, so passengers use the contract lounge in Terminal B. The sunny island of Usedom lives up to its name. We drove toward the Baltic Sea in the worst of the rain, and as soon as we crossed the bridge to the island, we were greeted by a bright blue sky and the sun smiling down on us. Perfect! That's how it should be.
