I've been to Poland a lot for work in the last year and got to know and love the country, the people and the good food. So in early January we decided to plan a weekend in Wroclaw. A sale from the Hilton group came just in time, so we were able to book the DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw for an unbeatable price of 75 EUR/night. You can find out in our hotel rating whether you can expect a good five-star hotel at this price.

We traveled with our own car from Halle (Saale) to Wroclaw. The futuristic OVO Wroclaw Center with its rounded white façade made of DuPont Corian, a mineral-organic composite material, catches our eye even from afar. The DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw is very centrally located on a major main street. It was only a few minutes' walk to the historic market square or the Oder promenade.

DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw – Hoteldesign
We drove directly into the hotel's underground car park (80 PLN/day, about 18 EUR). From there, an elevator led to the equally interestingly designed hotel lobby of the DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw, which opened in 2016. Here, too, the dominant color is white, while some walls are completely clad in dark wood with horizontal lighting or mirrored surfaces. The ground was gray cobblestones, which provided an exciting contrast to the other elements.
Since the DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw is an extension to an old existing building, the resulting triangular shape created an inner courtyard. This green oasis, equipped with modern concrete seating elements, invited you to linger. The courtyard, which is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of traffic, is perfect for the bars and restaurants on the ground floor.

DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw – Check-in
Check-in was friendly, but took a little longer. In addition to an upgrade to a King Deluxe Room on the second floor of the hotel, the young woman gave us some sightseeing tips and of course the warm chocolate cookie. A delicious tradition in all DoubleTree hotels!

DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw – King-Deluxe-Zimmer
Als Hilton Diamond We were given status guest from our booked room King-size-Bett in ein King-Deluxe-Zimmer upgraded. I was a bit disappointed here, as I'm sure one of the smaller suites or a kingExecutive-Zimmer with a view of the garden would have been available.

But when we got to our room 249 on the second and top floor of the hotel, we were more than satisfied with the size and the furnishings. In the entrance area there was a large closet with a safe, iron and ironing board. This was followed by a long mirror with an integrated television on the wall side. The lowboard underneath, which is veneered with dark wood, was e.g. installed the minibar. There was also a Nespresso capsule coffee machine and a kettle.

The panoramic window stretched across the entire width of the room. In front of it were two armchairs with side tables. The high and quite comfortable king-size bed with a photo print of a painting at the head end was on the opposite side of the wall from the lowboard.

The bathroom was spacious enough. However, we found the bathtub a bit too high to get in. All around the sink there was enough storage space, but unfortunately not enough possibilities to hang something. We particularly liked the heated mirror, which for this reason does not fog up even after the shower.

The design of the lights and furniture blended in well with the modern architectural concept of the hotel. The rooms had a very clear line and were furnished simply and without much frills. The mirror line and the shades of gray make the room look quite cool, but we personally liked that. All doors, regardless of whether they are the room entrance doors or the door to the bathroom, are visually flush with the wall surface and thus complete the simple and clear design.
DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw – Pool und Spa
The pool and spa area does not belong directly to the hotel, but is maintained by the fitness chain Holmes Place. As a hotel guest we had free access to the pool, sauna and fitness area. However, the pool is small and there are only six loungers in total to rest on.

DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw – Executive Lounge
Thanks to Hilton Honors Diamond status, we had access to the Executive Lounge. This was on the second floor and was open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. In the larger space of the lounge, several sofas and armchairs as well as high tables were available for working. Newspapers and magazines in different languages were displayed at a central table. Along the window front there was a long bench with small tables for eating.
During the opening hours of the lounge, you could help yourself to the small buffet with snacks (crisps, biscuits, muesli bars, etc.). In addition, tea, coffee, cold juices or other non-alcoholic drinks were offered throughout the day.
Breakfast was in the Executive Lounge served from 6:30am to 10:00am and Happy Hour, i.e. a mini-dinner with alcoholic drinks, was served from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The selection of hot and cold dishes was good – but certainly not a substitute for an evening meal.

DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw – Frühstück
For our breakfast we went to the hotel restaurant Ovo. There was a wide range of hot and cold dishes, tasty juices including wild berry smoothie, various breads, fruit and cereals. If you like, you can also drink a glass of sparkling wine in the morning. On request, the chef prepared simple egg dishes. I ordered eggs Benedict and bridged the waiting time with a delicious warm waffle. The Eggs Benedict were not only extremely tasty thanks to the homemade Hollandaise sauce.
