It has come: the day of our departure. After breakfast in the La Quinta Inn & Suites San Diego Mission Bay We packed our bags in our rental car and drove towards Los Angeles. Since our flight back to Germany wasn't until the evening, we checked out a few sights for the day, like the Hollywood Sign.
Just in time for lunch we stopped at Pink's (700-714 N La Brea Ave Los Angeles, CA 90038) for the famous Chili Dog. I have to admit, though, that this hot dog didn't blow me away and didn't taste like my friend's hot dog. last Pink's visit three years ago came closer.
The best spot for a photo of the Hollywood Sign
Satiated, we looked for the best position to to photograph the Hollywood Sign. You can read a variety of opinions online. We found the best spot at the address 6201 Mulholland Hwy, Los AngelessA small hiking trail starts directly to the right of the house, from where we had a perfect view of the sign. Truly brilliant!
Hike to the Hollywood Sign
Our original plan was to go up to the Hollywood Sign hike. From the address: 6084 Mulholland Hwy, Los AngelesThis should be possible without any problems. With my camera's telephoto lens, I could even make out a few people on the mountain. But it was so hot on that October day, and we still had to fly home in the clothes we were wearing. So we decided against a hike. Next time we're in LA, though, this is at the top of our to-do list.
Since we still had a bit of time, we drove around the Hollywood Hills. We passed through Beverly Hills and, while searching for a geocache, suddenly found ourselves behind Universal Studios. From above, we had a clear view of the "War of the Worlds" film set. Unfortunately, most of the fences were covered with privacy screens.

After a short detour to the Hollywood BowlWe drove to the airport and returned the rental car to Alamo. The white Chrysler 200 accompanied us quite comfortably, as well as an American car can, for 1,755 kilometers. I was quite impressed by the average fuel consumption of 8.5 l/100 km. Chrysler has done its homework here, too.
