Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300 Economy Class, Istanbul to Dubai
At the beginning of the year, we decided to take one last vacation before our upcoming wedding. The somewhat dreary winter made us consider the always-warm Emirates. We had always wanted to visit Dubai, so in mid-January we booked a relatively inexpensive flight with Turkish Airlines from Leipzig via Istanbul to Dubai. […]
SWISS Airbus A330-300 Economy Class, Geneva to New York
For professional reasons, we only decided on our upcoming vacation very late. However, the destination was quickly decided due to the travel period from the end of September to the beginning of October: Indian Summer on the East Coast of the USA. At the beginning of August, we still managed to get a relatively inexpensive flight with SWISS from Tegel via Zurich and Geneva to New York […]
SWISS Airbus A320-200 Economy Class, Nice to Berlin
Today was our last day here on the Côte d'Azur. Before flying back to Germany with SWISS and the rain and storms, we explored the area around Nice a bit. Fort Mont Alban: Having already explored Nice's city center extensively, we chose a mountain to the east today […]
SWISS Airbus A320-200 Economy Class, Berlin to Nice
Having held Star Alliance Gold frequent flyer status for over a year now, but unfortunately not having time for further flights due to finishing my Master's degree and moving house, we were finally able to take advantage of the benefits today on our trip to Nice with SWISS (book here). We departed from Halle (Saale) early this morning […]
Turkish Airlines Comfort Class in the Boeing 777-300ER to Los Angeles
The flight with Turkish Airlines Comfort Class on a Boeing 777-300ER was one of my first error fares. Thanks to this pricing error, I flew from Istanbul to Los Angeles in comfortable Turkish Airlines Premium Economy. Find out whether the detour to Istanbul was worth it in the following trip report.

Best view of the Hollywood Sign
The day of our departure has arrived. After breakfast at the La Quinta Inn & Suites San Diego Mission Bay, we packed our suitcases into our rental car and drove towards Los Angeles. Since our flight back to Germany wasn't until the evening, we planned to visit a few sights during the day, such as Hollywood […]
Surfing on San Diego Beach
We'd been looking forward to today all vacation: a beach day and surfing in San Diego! Breakfast was, once again, very American, but okay. At least there was fresh fruit and yogurt. Crystal Pier San Diego. We drove down Grand Avenue to the beach. There we parked in a […]
Highway No. 1: El Matador Beach and Planespotting LAX
Our drive took us through the hills outside Los Angeles, starting at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and following Highway 23. You need a strong stomach here, especially on the last stretch just before the coast. The switchbacks are not to be underestimated! Yesterday's post, where we drove Highway 1 from Morro […]
Ronald Reagan Presidential Library
After a leisurely breakfast at the Best Western Plus Posada Royale Hotel & Suites in Simi Valley, we drove our rental car to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Opened in 1991, this presidential library, established by Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, is not a traditional library, but rather a repository for papers, awards, and other historical materials (e.g., a piece of […]
Highway No. 1: From Morro Bay to Simi Valley
Breakfast today was a bit meager. Having breakfast at the reception desk isn't really the best thing. So we set off relatively early along Highway 1 to the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes. On this part of the route, from Morro Bay to Simi Valley, the drive took us not directly along the Pacific Ocean, but a bit inland. The hinterland here is largely used for agriculture. We saw full strawberry fields, in October, and avocado fields, so we think they were avocados.
