Hilton Vienna

Hotel Bewertung: Hilton Vienna - Vier Sterne Hotel am Stadtpark von Wien

For our weekend trip to Vienna we were looking for a hotel in a central location. There was a large selection, as the Hilton Group alone has four properties in its portfolio. As we had already stayed at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront a few years ago, we chose the Hilton Vienna am Stadtpark this time. You can find out in this hotel review whether this was a good choice and what our highest room upgrade to date turned out to be.

Hilton Vienna – Lage & Check-in

Due to our late arrival at Vienna airport, we took a taxi (cost 55 EUR) to the Hilton Vienna. Arriving by S-Bahn and CAT (City Airport Train), which stop directly opposite the hotel at the “Wien Mitte” station, is much cheaper and almost as quick. The location of the Hilton Vienna is also extremely convenient with regard to the sights of Vienna. It is only a few minutes' walk to St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Hofburg or Vienna's MuseumsQuartier are also not far away.

Despite our late arrival at 10pm the reception was still busy. Thanks to Gold status, we didn't have to wait and were greeted directly at the reception for Honors customers. I had already checked in via the Hilton app and was given a room in the executive area. The friendly employee surprised us on the spot with another upgrade: our booked king deluxe room became a penthouse suite - our best room upgrade to date! Beaming with joy, we quickly signed the prepared forms and then took the elevator to the 15th floor.

Hilton Vienna – Penthouse Suite (Zimmer Nr. 1503)

There are nine different suites from 38 to 235 m² in the Hilton Vienna, all of which are located on the top floor. Our penthouse suite was in the middle with 65 m². Access to the Executive Lounge with free snacks and drinks was also included.

Starting from the entrance area, there was the guest toilet, to the right was the sleeping area and to the left was the large living area. Along the living room wall was a comfortable five foot sofa with tan fabric and dark brown cushions. In the center of the room there was a round conference table with three chairs. On our arrival there was an extensive welcome gift, consisting of red wine “Viennese trilogy”, water, a fruit bowl and the local Manner waffles. In the adjoining dresser the filled mini bar was accommodated. An additional bottle of mineral water and a coffee/kettle station were also provided there. A flat-screen TV and a desk were of course also available.

A narrow balcony stretches along the entire Penthouse Suite. There is no space to sit, but the balcony was perfectly adequate for getting some fresh air and enjoying the breathtaking view of the Stadtpark, St. Stephen's Cathedral and the rest of Vienna.

On the way to the sleeping area there was a large wardrobe on the right. Opposite was the spacious bathroom with bath, walk-in shower and toilet. We particularly liked the extensive storage space at the sink and the large mirror. In the bedroom, next to our ordered cot, there was a double bed, a lounger and a flat-screen TV. Unfortunately, there were no sockets installed in the bedside tables. Access to the balcony was also possible from the bedroom.

Hilton Vienna – Executive Lounge

The Executive Lounge at the Hilton Vienna is on the 12th floor. It is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Entry control is automatic. So we only needed the unlocked room card for access.

The lounge is divided into three seating areas. In each room there are several tables and chairs and in one there is also a small cozy seating area. The space available was usually sufficient during our visits. However, it got very busy for a short time during happy hour, so that not every guest found a seat for the moment. However, the service staff always tried their best and even made the vacant desk in the lounge reception available for meals. An Apple iMac and a PC were also available for short research on the Internet or other work.

Hilton Vienna - Breakfast at S'Parks

Breakfast is served daily until 11am in the hotel restaurant S'Parks. During our stay at the weekend it was already very busy around 8 a.m., so that there were only a few free tables. So if you have breakfast in a larger group, it certainly makes sense to reserve a table the evening before. Since there was an extra reserved area for Hilton Honors status guests, there were five of us, no problem finding a table. When we arrived at the table, we were greeted by the service staff and offered coffee or orange juice. In general, the waiters were extremely friendly and quick to clear away the used dishes or refill drinks. This is how I wish for the service in a four star hotel!

The offer at the breakfast buffet in the Hilton Vienna was extremely extensive. In addition to the typical warm dishes such as scrambled eggs, beans, bacon, dim sum or fried noodles were also offered. There was also a large selection of bread, baked goods and cakes. The buffet was rounded off with a waffle machine, various yoghurts, breakfast cereals and fruit or fruit salad. At an open kitchenette you could also have egg dishes, pancakes or waffles prepared. Of course, I didn't miss such an opportunity and ordered eggs Benedict, one of my favorite dishes.

At the exit of the S'Parks restaurant there was also a small buffet with snacks, fruit and water. Here we stocked up on a few little things for the day. Great service and a great idea!

Hilton Vienna - Dinner at S'Parks

For Saturday evening we had reserved a table in the hotel restaurant S'Parks. Grandma and Grandpa lovingly took care of our little son, so that we as parents were able to enjoy an evening meal in peace again for the first time. The menu contained a clear selection of innovative creations from classic and modern Austrian cuisine using local ingredients. I opted for a Viennese schnitzel from milk veal with green salad and parsley potatoes. Christin took an asparagus risotto with wild garlic oil. A first class choice for both of us! Although we were full after the main course, we luckily allowed the restaurant chef to persuade us to have dessert. The marchfelder strawberries with meringue, woodruff jelly and strawberry cheesecake ice cream were just fantastic. A great finish!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Vienna. The central location at the city park and the proximity to the subway station make the hotel a first-class starting point for a city trip. Thanks to the upgrade to the penthouse suite, we had a particularly great view and plenty of space. If we are traveling with our son, additional living space in the hotel room is definitely worth the extra cost. Our only minor criticism is that there were no plug sockets next to the bed. The lounge and breakfast offerings at the hotel restaurant, S'Parks, were top notch. We would love to come back to the Hilton Vienna anytime.
