The Crowne Plaza Changi Airport is one of the best airport hotels in the world and has won several awards at the Skytrax World Airport Awards. It is located directly at Singapore Changi Airport. We tested the hotel for one night before our return journey and report on the booking, location and rooms in this review. We also answer the question of whether an overnight stay at the multi-award-winning airport hotel is really worth it.
Booking, arrival and check-in
The Crowne Plaza Changi Airport at Singapore Changi Airport is one of the most famous airport hotels in the world. Among the Skytrax World Airport Awards it was once again voted the World's Best Airport Hotel in 2025. This is an award that the hotel has received several times before. We were therefore eager to see whether we would actually experience this reputation during our stay.
We booked the hotel for one night through American Express Travel Service. This allowed us to use the annual travel credit of €200 that we had accumulated with our American Express Platinum Card This significantly reduced the price of the overnight stay, so that the room ultimately cost us only around €80 – but without breakfast.

Before our stay, we stayed at the Conrad Singapore Orchard (our hotel review) and decided on a relaxed and inexpensive journey to the airport by public bus. The journey took just over an hour and took us across the city to Singapore Changi Airport. Bus line 36 is a delightfully straightforward connection, as it stops directly at Terminal 3. From the bus stop, it was only a few metres to the hotel entrance, which is particularly convenient when travelling with luggage.

Check-in at the Crowne Plaza was quick and easy. Within a few minutes, we received our room cards and were able to go straight to our room. As we do not have any status with IHG Hotels & Resorts, we did not receive an upgrade, as expected. However, there are various rooms with different views available in the standard category we booked. We were lucky and got a room with a view of the apron and one of the airport's runways. For aviation fans like us, this is a nice detail that has its charm.
Where is the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Singapore located?
Many travellers wonder whether staying at a hotel at Singapore Airport is really worth it. After all, the city centre is not far away and offers a wide range of excellent hotels. As we had already spent our stay in the city at the Conrad Singapore Orchard, we deliberately chose the particularly comfortable Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, located right at the airport, for our return journey. The location is particularly convenient for an overnight stay or an early departure. Despite its proximity to the runway, it is surprisingly quiet.

The hotel is located directly at Singapore Changi Airport and is directly connected to Terminal 3. Its proximity to the Skytrain connections between the terminals is particularly convenient. It is also only a few minutes' walk to the famous Jewel Changi Airport with its spectacular indoor waterfall. The route to the hotel is very well signposted within the airport, making it easy to reach from both the departure and arrival levels. Of course, the hotel is also accessible from the street. Those arriving by taxi or rental car can get out right in front of the entrance and easily reach the lobby from there.

What are the rooms like at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Singapore?
We booked a King Standard Room for our stay at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport and were given a room on the sixth of nine floors. At around 36 square metres, the room was very spacious for an airport hotel and offered more than enough space, especially for an overnight stay.

Upon entering the room, there was a wardrobes area with a minibar on the left-hand side. However, this was not stocked during our stay. Next to it was an open wardrobe that could be closed with a sliding door. It was equipped with a clothes rail. There were no drawers or larger storage options.

On the right-hand side was the bathroom, which was surprisingly spacious. It had a bathtub, a large walk-in shower, a toilet, a washbasin with plenty of storage space and a power socket. The toiletries provided were from the natural cosmetics brand Antipodes. Visually, the bathroom was separated from the sleeping area by a glass wall partially covered with floral patterns, and an additional fabric roller blind provided some privacy.

The sleeping area itself was modern and functional. On the left side of the room was a long sideboard that also served as a bench and seamlessly transitioned into a spacious desk. On top of the desk was a desk lamp, several power sockets and two USB-A ports for charging devices. The desk also had a built-in safe that was large enough to easily accommodate a laptop and other valuables. On the right-hand side of the room was a large king-size bed with two bedside tables. Here, too, there were power sockets and two USB-A ports, as well as a bedside lamp and an alarm clock. At the foot of the bed was a small seating area in the form of a sofa with a round coffee table.

The real highlight of the room was the floor-to-ceiling windows, which offered a direct view of the apron at Terminal 3 of Singapore Changi Airport. From our room, we could even watch runway 02L, which was a special experience for us as aviation fans. For guests who are not interested in aeroplanes, however, the proximity to the runway could also be a minor disadvantage. Although the windows were well soundproofed, taking-off aeroplanes could occasionally be heard at night and in the early morning.

Overall, we liked the room. It was spacious, functionally furnished and offered an exciting view. There were some minor signs of wear and tear in places, but that's not surprising in a busy airport hotel.
What does the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Singapore offer for relaxation?
The Crowne Plaza Changi Airport also offers relaxation facilities. It has both a pool area and a fitness centre. The pool was located on the third floor and offered an interesting view of parts of Singapore Changi Airport and the tower during our visit. It was open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. However, when we were there in the evening, there was no active service at the pool. Towels were available, though, so you could help yourself at any time. There were also a few sun loungers available, and we could help ourselves to water in small plastic cups.

The tropical-style pool area is located in the hotel's leafy courtyard. Particularly striking are the several small islands with palm trees that have been created in the pool and are somewhat reminiscent of mangroves. In the bays around these islands are small whirlpools that offer additional relaxation opportunities. Overall, the complex felt very peaceful and pleasant.
Those who prefer to engage in sporting activities can also use the fitness centre. It is open around the clock and can be accessed conveniently with your room card. This means that the hotel also offers guests with very early or late flights the opportunity to fit in a training session at their convenience.
