Booking and check-in

We were looking for a destination for our New Year's holiday. After deciding against booking a flight due to potential COVID-19 restrictions, we opted to drive to Venice. As a stopover on this long drive, we chose the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Venice – North, located just before Venice. We booked a standard room for around €100 and received an upgrade to a one-bedroom suite the day before our arrival.

Check-in was quick and easy in the beautifully designed and modern lobby. In addition to the delicious warm chocolate biscuits that are always available at DoubleTree hotels, there was also a complimentary bottle of water per person as an added status benefit.

What are the rooms (One-Bedroom Suite) like at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Venice – North?

The one-bedroom suite at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Venice was very spacious and furnished in a contemporary style. The entrance area featured a large mirror and a guest toilet. The living area consisted of a sofa, which was converted into a sofa bed for us, a coffee station, and a table with two armchairs. Adjoining this was the bedroom, which could be separated from the living room by two sliding doors. The king-size bed was very comfortable, and the television was a good size. A walk-in closet with ample storage space was located next to the bedroom. From here, we also accessed the large bathroom with a shower and bathtub. There was plenty of counter space and enough hanging space for towels. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom and living area offered a wonderful view of the hotel's quiet courtyard.

We were disappointed to find that some of the furniture was stained and damaged in places. The bathroom construction also lacked attention to detail. Many small areas were poorly finished and therefore looked unsightly. However, this is likely due to the trained eye of an architect, who tends to spot such things more easily.

What is the breakfast like at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Venice – North?

Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the hotel's ground floor. During our stay, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Venice – North was only sparsely occupied. Therefore, the breakfast buffet was small. However, the selection and quality were very good. Bread, pastries, and coffee were served at the table by the waitstaff. We could also order fresh egg dishes this way.
