Aegean Business Lounge Thessaloniki (2016)

The Aegean Business Lounge Thessaloniki is located at the end of the departure gates at Thessaloniki Airport, after passing through security. One of the biggest advantages is direct boarding from the lounge for any flight within the Schengen area. I think the design is extremely successful. The interior designer was inspired by a film set when selecting the furniture.

Where is the Aegean Business Lounge Thessaloniki?

Thessaloniki Airport is extremely easy to navigate, so finding the Aegean Business Lounge Thessaloniki is anything but difficult. Once you've passed the security checkpoint, you first walk straight ahead, then turn right, and then basically walk in the opposite direction.

What is the Aegean Business Lounge Thessaloniki equipped with?

The lounge has a seating area. There are several large, light-colored leather sofas and a few comfortable armchairs. Between the individual seating areas are several large metal tables. However, I find them too low for working on a laptop. The adjacent, floor-to-ceiling windows offer a magnificent view of the airport apron.

Adjacent to the seating area is the buffet, featuring a larger counter and 16 black wooden bar stools. If that doesn't provide enough space for dining, there's also an area with several tables and chairs. Along the wall, there are also four PCs available for free use, which, along with the stable Wi-Fi, create a pleasant working atmosphere.

What is available to eat and drink at the Aegean Business Lounge Thessaloniki?

The food selection isn't that extensive. For example, there were various packaged salads and fruit, sandwiches, and sweets. No hot meals were offered during our stay. A monthly changing buffet of specialties from various Greek regions provides variety. In October 2016, the dishes were inspired by the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. For example, there was a lemon schnapps, marzipan, and cheese.

In contrast to the food, the selection of drinks is considerably larger: beer (Heineken and Greek Alfa), two red wines, a selection of standard spirits (nothing from the high-priced segment), soft drinks, and a WMF and Nespresso coffee machine.

I really like the design of the Aegean Business Lounge at Thessaloniki Airport. Aegean's website advertises it as having a capacity of 90 guests. I think this is a bit bold, considering its relatively small size. The direct view of the apron is fantastic. The buffet isn't exactly outstanding, but it's adequate for a small snack. The biggest advantage is boarding directly from the lounge.

My name is Christian, I was born in the green heart of Germany and studied computer engineering in Ilmenau. Today, I live with my wife Christin and our son in Merseburg, but work in Leipzig as a product manager. For me, travelling has always been more than just a change of scenery. I loved getting on a plane, discovering new cuisines and feeling at home in special hotels. This mixture of enjoyment, curiosity and wanderlust was the reason why I started writing about my experiences on this blog back in 2007. Whether it was a spontaneous weekend adventure or a big trip across continents, I wanted to share my passion and show how many beautiful stories the world has to offer. And to this day, I am always on the lookout for the next place that will surprise me.
