SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich Terminal A

SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich Terminal A

About a year ago, the new SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich opened in Terminal A. On our way back from our summer vacation in Dubai, we finally had the chance to visit the lounge in June 2019. Find out whether the 18-month construction period was worth it in our lounge review!

Where is the SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich Terminal A?

The new SWISS Senator Lounge in Terminal A is still in the same location: after the security check, through the duty-free shop, up the escalator, and then just a few steps to the entrance. Overall, the route was very well signposted. The entrance area is shared by the Senator Lounge and the Business Lounge. Those familiar with the former lounge will notice that the SWISS Senator Lounge is now on the right instead of the left.

What is the SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich Terminal A equipped with?

After passing through the entrance check, we climbed a staircase to the actual lounge, located half a floor above. Upstairs, we found ourselves in the restaurant area with tables, chairs, and long benches. The high ceilings and massive metal structures created an atmosphere reminiscent of a market hall.

Behind the restaurant area, separated by an open wooden structure, was the "classic" lounge area. There were several leather armchairs with side tables, lamps, and power outlets. There were also three separate work areas and a light-filled atrium, which housed several more workstations. Plenty of power outlets were available everywhere, and some even had wireless charging stations.

To the left of the entrance is a so-called Bellevue Terrace. This area, with padded benches and stools, extends into the Business Class Lounge. However, the "terrace" is separated from it by high glass walls.

The former smoking bar above the lounge was converted into a relaxation room. It featured several loungers and comfortable sofas. Definitely a better use of the available space than before the renovation!

The SWISS Lounge also has several washrooms with showers. These are very modern and offer plenty of space.

What is available to eat and drink in the SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich Terminal A?

We were in the lounge early Saturday morning, so breakfast was offered during our stay. There was a cold buffet with cold cuts and cheese, various jams, yogurt with muesli, and fresh fruit. The highlight of the SWISS Senator Lounge in Zurich, however, is the open kitchen. Egg dishes such as omelets, fried eggs, and scrambled eggs were freshly prepared here. Another unique feature of the SWISS Lounge in Zurich is the freezer filled with Mövenpick ice cream. Delicious!

The drinks selection was very extensive. Starting with various soft drinks, juices, and water, there was also a large selection of beers, wines, and sparkling wines. The selection of hot drinks available from one of the three fully automatic coffee machines was also astonishing. From regular coffee to espresso to iced caramel latte macchiato, we were able to choose from over twenty coffee specialties.

As status guests, we had to wait a very long time for the completion of the renovation work at the SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich in Terminal A. Overall, I'd say the wait was worth it. I really like the new design and the different seating areas. I also think the open kitchen concept is extremely well-executed.

Hi Christian, first of all, congratulations for your post. I really like it. Have you ever visited the VIP lounge in Zurich? I personally find it really cozy.
Since you love "discovering good food and drink, as well as staying in great hotels," I recommend my book by Professor Rütli: "Zurich, Shanghai, Dubai—what now? Professor." This somewhat different travel story is sure to delight you and your wife. You'll learn lots of tips about Shanghai, Dubai, and more. My husband and I experienced it all ourselves. (also available on Amazon).
In advance, I wish you a Merry Christmas and more great travels!
