This page brings together all the posts from our summer trip 2019 to the United Arab Emirates – a year-long holiday that took us from Leipzig via Frankfurt and Dubai to Ras al Khaimah and ended with a stopover in Zurich.
Included are detailed hotel reviews of the Waldorf Astoria Ras al Khaimah, a five-star beachfront resort on the Arabian Gulf, and the Conrad Dubai during the off-season. Also included are lounge reviews of the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Dubai and the Lufthansa Business Lounge Dubai at Terminal 1D, as well as a review of the SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich Terminal A on the return journey. The archive is further enhanced by trip reports from Lufthansa Premium Economy on the Airbus A330-300 to Dubai and Lufthansa Business Class on the Airbus A319 from Frankfurt to Leipzig as a connecting flight for a Miles & More award ticket. These articles are aimed at travelers planning a trip to the UAE during the off-season who want to know which luxury hotels and lounges offer the best value for money.
About a year ago, the new SWISS Senator Lounge Zurich opened in Terminal A. On our way back from our summer vacation in Dubai, we finally had the chance to visit the lounge in June 2019. Find out whether the 18-month construction period was worth it in our lounge review!
The Lufthansa Group has been flying from the newly built Terminal 1D in Dubai since 2016. As part of the move, Lufthansa has opened a new Senator and Business Lounge. After our relaxing beach holiday in the United Arab Emirates, we visited the Lufthansa Business Lounge Dubai before our return flight. Find out whether it's worth a visit in our lounge review.
After moving to Terminal 1D, Lufthansa has opened a new Senator and Business Lounge. To conclude our relaxed beach holiday in the United Arab Emirates, we visited the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Dubai before our return flight. You can find out whether a visit is worthwhile in the Lounge Review.
We spent our 2019 summer holiday in the United Arab Emirates. For our time in Dubai we had chosen the Conrad Dubai. In the low season we could book this luxury hotel very cheap. If the price is also reflected in the quality and service, you can find out in our hotel evaluation.
The Lufthansa Business Class Airbus A319 cannot really be described as luxury. In most cases, Lufthansa Business Class is not worthwhile on short-haul flights within Europe due to the price-performance ratio. As the connecting flight of our Miles & More award ticket from Dubai, we flew the short-haul route from Frankfurt to Leipzig.
The name, a statement. The brand, pure luxury. The Waldorf Astoria Ras al Khaimah. In June, we spent five nights at this five-star hotel on the Arabian Gulf. In the summer months, when it's really hot in the United Arab Emirates, the value for money is simply unbeatable. So why travel to overcrowded and poorly managed hotels in the Mediterranean when I can be treated like a king here for the same price? Find out if the luxury is worth it in our hotel review.
We spent a long time looking for a destination for our annual holiday. Bali and Washington D.C. were on the list. Due to the better availability of Miles & More award flights, we finally decided in favour of the United Arab Emirates. You can find out what our flight in Lufthansa Premium Economy in the Airbus A330 to Dubai was like in our flight review.
