Where is the BER Lounge Tegel located?

After the security check, we went directly to the BER Lounge Tegel. It is located in Terminal 1 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, on Level E1, opposite Gate B17 and in the immediate vicinity of the Lufthansa LoungesThe B Gates are located on the right pier after passing through security and the duty-free shop. Clearly visible signage makes it easy to find your way, even for first-time visitors.

Who has access to the BER Lounge Tegel?

Access to the BER Lounge Tegel is no longer just available to frequent flyers with status. Those looking to treat themselves to a relaxing break before departure can easily book lounge access online in advance – or, subject to availability, directly at the reception desk. Payment is conveniently made by debit or credit card; the current price is €36 per person. Children up to their third birthday have free access to the lounge. Since November 2024, Priority Pass holders also have free admission – provided they can present a valid boarding pass for the same day.

The lounge also cooperates with selected airlines such as Air France, KLM, Finnair, and SAS. Passengers traveling in Business Class with these airlines or with the corresponding frequent flyer status can use the lounge free of charge, as the airline covers the fee. Further information and the Possibility to reserve access in advance can be found on the official website of the airport.

What is the BER Lounge Tegel equipped with?

The BER Tegel Lounge may be compact, but it's well-designed. Directly behind the reception, the lounge area opens to the left. First, you'll find a small TV corner with comfortable armchairs. Right behind it is a separate meeting room, which can only be booked for an additional fee. This room is ideal for those who want to have a quiet chat or hold a short meeting before their flight.

The somewhat hidden work niches behind the meeting room offered a quieter atmosphere, but were unfortunately already occupied when we arrived. We then moved on to a central dining area, cleverly combining lounge chairs and dining tables. Directly adjacent was the buffet, which, with its diverse offerings, formed the culinary centerpiece of the lounge. Along the windows, there was an area with high tables and dining tables, perfect for sitting and working while enjoying the natural light.

A little further back, we discovered the smoking lounge and the relaxation area. Both rooms were pleasantly quiet and offered a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle. However, out of consideration for other guests, we didn't take any photos there.

The furniture was truly diverse: lounge chairs, bar stools, and classic chairs, offering a space to suit every taste and need. One minor drawback, however, was that some seats lacked power outlets, which could be inconvenient for frequent travelers who work on their laptops. On the plus side, the Wi-Fi at the airport worked well. There were also private restrooms and, according to the operator, even showers.

What is available to eat and drink in the BER Lounge Tegel?

The BER Lounge Tegel offered a simple but solid breakfast buffet early in the morning. Fresh rolls, croissants, pretzels, and various cakes were available, complemented by sweet spreads, cold cuts, cheese, and Nuremberg sausages. For a healthy start, there was a selection of fruit, yogurt, muesli, and cereals. Everything was clearly presented and regularly replenished.

There was no shortage of drinks in the lounge either. Two refrigerators stocked soft drinks, water, juices, and Beck's beer. There was also a tap with Beck's and Franziskaner Hefeweißbier. Those who preferred coffee could choose from two fully automatic coffee machines. In addition, various white, red, and rosé wines, as well as Henkel sparkling wine, were available in the morning. The selection of spirits was also well-stocked, but we skipped it at this time.

Summary

The BER Lounge Tegel offers a solid breakfast, an above-average selection of drinks, and pleasant seating areas. Despite a packed lounge on a Sunday morning, we easily found a seat. Cleanliness could be improved. Priority Pass holders or guests with lounge access will find it worthwhile – but if you're paying €36, consider how much time you have until boarding.
