Lufthansa Senator Lounge in the Munich satellite terminal

The new satellite in Terminal 2 at Munich Airport has been in operation since April 26. Lufthansa is providing passengers with five new lounges in these new surroundings: a First Class Lounge and two Business and Senator Lounges, both in the Schengen and Non-Schengen areas. In this review the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in the satellite terminal (Schengen area) is reviewed.

The way to the satellite terminal

Visionary, as the engineers had already been during the construction of Terminal 2, a tunnel for a possible shuttle connection was considered. After passing the security checkpoint, keep right and follow the signs towards K & L Gates. Past the Senator Café, take the escalators down to the station. There are two trains that commute between the two buildings completely autonomously every four minutes. One ride takes less than a minute. Take the escalators back up and simply follow the signs. Even if your flight departs from Terminal 2, you can move quickly and easily between the two buildings.

The door opens and I am warmly welcomed. Everything still smells very new. The Business Lounge is on the left hand side, the Lufthansa Senator Lounge on the right. Everything is based on the new design. Earth tones determine the color scheme and create a relaxed, exclusive ambience. Illuminated forest wallpaper loosens up the surroundings in a pleasant way.

Lufthansa Senator Lounge in the satellite terminal – business centre and shower area

Right in the entrance area there is a modern business centre with the possibility to work and telephone in a very private atmosphere. A copy machine is also available. On this side is also the spacious sanitary and shower area. If you want to store your belongings, you can place them in a locker. Here you will also find a large selection of newspapers from all over the world on the newspaper shelf.

Comfortable chairs and tables are available in the large, open area. Small boxes give the possibility to work comfortably. In a separee the latest news from all over the world is broadcasted on several screens. It reminds me a little of a fireplace room.

At the window front there is also a whole range of seating possibilities and this with a view to the apron. If you want, you can close your eyes on relax loungers or just relax. The other armchairs are easy to work in, and sufficient power connections are provided.

Lufthansa Senator Lounge in the satellite terminal – Bar area

The heart of every lounge. At the main counter you will find a wide selection of food and drinks. Today in the late afternoon there is a tomato soup, vegetarian curry, meat loaf, meatballs and mashed potatoes as hot dishes. Fruit, salad and small sandwiches as a cold snack. Suitably to the afternoon time there are naturally also various cakes. The bar is well sorted, beer can be tapped yourself. Unfortunately there are Spaten and Franziskaner – that could have been done better. :-)

In the middle you can sit on bar stools. The coffee machine and the beer tap are within arm’s length.

Summary

Short and simple, the Lounge is great! Very nice staff, beautiful view of the apron and the food and drinks leave nothing to be desired. Even though the nice lady from Lufthansa promised me that the bar of the Senator Lounge in the non-Schengen area should be really good. :-)
