Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort

Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort

For our trip to the United Arab Emirates we chose a 5-star hotel on the Gulf of Oman. in the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort, in the very north and somewhat remote, but with a lot of charm, we hoped for an Arabian dream. We spent almost a week here and had a good time. You can find out how we liked the hotel and everything around it in this article.

Arrival and check-in

After an overnight stay in Dubai, we drove in a rental car to the east coast of the United Arab Emirates, 155 kilometers away. The journey led through the barren Hajar Mountains to the coast of the Gulf of Oman. When we arrived at the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort, we received a warm welcome and check-in in the magnificent lobby went quickly.

Where is Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort located?

The exclusive Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort is located in the northeast of the United Arab Emirates, more precisely in Fujairah, one of the country's seven emirates. Fujairah is known for its stunning coastline on the Gulf of Oman and the scenic mountains that surround the region.

The resort itself is ideally located on the beach and offers guests breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman. With a combination of modern architecture and traditional Arabic elements, the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort blends harmoniously into its surroundings.

What are the rooms like at Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort?

The hotel has 180 rooms and suites. These are decorated in a modern Arabic style with dark furniture and simple white accents. We moved into a guest room with a view of the marina. Right in the entrance area of our 40 square meter room, behind the heavy entrance door, there was a large, spacious wardrobe with an integrated safe and plenty of storage space.

Opposite was the access to the bathroom, which was equipped with two sinks, a bathtub, a rain shower and a small additional room for the toilet. The marble vanity and the white tiles on the walls complemented each other very well stylistically. The dark wood was also reflected in small details. We found the shower to be a bit too small, and the shower door also slammed into the shower. We found the toilet next door to be very spacious. Maybe the two rooms should have just been swapped? Despite the large bathroom, we were a bit lacking in storage space as the sinks took up a lot of space on the vanity. We really liked the large bathroom mirror. The bathroom in the bathtub area could be opened to the bed through two wooden flaps. Our son especially found it exciting and enjoyed looking into it while brushing his teeth.

Unfortunately, there were again small construction defects: one of the two taps was loose. Room service reattached it, but after two days it was loose again. I just think the choice of faucet here was wrong. When operating and turning on the water, it kept coming loose. In addition, the drain strainer in the shower was pushed out. Room service should have seen that, so I just put it back in.

The room had a large desk with two USB charging stations, a king size bed with a very nice dark wood headboard and an armchair with stool and side table. We found the bed a bit too soft, but everyone sees it differently. When we arrived, there was a cot with cute teddy bedding ready for our son. Large patio doors led onto your own spacious balcony. The seating and table contrasted with the white rattan room furniture. Like the cushions on the beach and pool loungers, these seat cushions were slightly stained. The air conditioning in the hotel room was very pleasant, quiet and easy to regulate. As a small amenity there was a Nespresso machine as well as a fruit plate and cookies. We found this very thoughtful and our son was especially pleased. We found the lighting design in the room and bathroom to be very nicely accentuated and, above all, pleasant. There was the right setting for every time of day.

How is breakfast at Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort?

The selection at breakfast and dinner was very good. Despite the large hotel, it was not a mass-produced meal from a commercial kitchen, but rather very carefully and finely selected ingredients.

Breakfast consisted of cold and hot items, such as sausage and cheese, pancakes and waffles. Muesli, cornflakes, all kinds of bread and desserts. But also salad and lots of fruit. Water, juice and a large selection of coffee specialties were included in the price.

The dinner was just as good and varied. There was actually supposed to be a theme evening 2 or 3 times a week, but that didn't actually happen. However, we had food from all over the world to choose from, such as: B. Indian, Arabic and also European food. Of course not every evening, but spread out over the days. Maybe it was supposed to be the theme evenings, but then that was interpreted differently in the hotel description. There were also cold dishes like sausage and cheese every evening, a large selection of salads with different types of bread and desserts that were fantastic.

There were always one or two extras for the younger guests, such as mac and cheese or pasta with tomato sauce for dinner. So if our son didn't like the food from all over the world, he just had pasta. We found our personal milk service for the little man very accommodating. For breakfast and dinner we were always brought a pot of warm soy milk to the table, as unfortunately it wasn't available at the buffet. But it doesn't cost anything to ask and so we were happy to fulfill this extra wish. For us, this is also part of good service.

What does the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort offer for relaxation?

The Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort impresses with its oriental décor. You feel like you're in the Arabian Nights. Dark furniture and artistic accents in contrast to lots of white dominate the interior and underline the modern interplay of ancient culture and western lifestyle. All rooms are furnished in the same style and fit the theme very well into the United Arab Emirates. There was no exaggeration with oriental clichés here, everything is coordinated here.

The hotel is beautifully laid out and, despite the many rooms, is clear. Because it is on a slope, the entrance level is not the level where the pool and beach are located, as is the case with other hotels. These are a few floors below. The pool level and the beach are not on the same level either. The terraces that accommodate the individual service areas have been beautifully worked on here. All levels are accessible via elevator, which is definitely an advantage for families with strollers. The hotel has five different restaurants and bars. The main restaurant is Canvas, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

On the same level as the Canvas Restaurant is the pool area. At first it seemed a bit small to us for the many rooms and therefore potential guests. But we never had the feeling that everything was overcrowded or that there was no room in the pool. There are even swimming animals and balls for extra special bathing fun, which we were happy to accept. For younger guests, there is a children's area next to the large pool. This is so big that you can also go in as a parent. There are enough loungers around the pool, with a large selection of loungers. From a simple lounger to a large lounge area and beach shelters, everything is available.

The beach is on the lowest level and was a bit difficult to reach when we visited the hotel. We didn't think it was that bad, because everyone sees “awkward” differently. There will soon be a newly designed beach section that will be accessible via stairs and elevators directly from the pool level. The construction work is in its final stages and did not disrupt our bathing pleasure. The beach is located in an artificially built bay, so unfortunately there is hardly any fresh water from the sea. We found the artificially piled limestone sand to be quite hard and rocky, but that didn't bother our son. He played and muddied like in any other sand.

There are plenty of loungers on the beach, as well as towels, which you can simply take from the towel stand. Even if there is no free lounger, we immediately check which lounger has towels on it but has not been used. This will then be cleaned immediately and prepared for the new guest. We think this is a great service. The loungers at the pool and on the beach are very comfortable, although a bit stained. Here the cushions should perhaps be replaced more often. For us with small children, the large and stable parasol was very important. Not a little rattling thing that can't withstand the slightest wind. There was an umbrella for two loungers, so no one had to fight for shade.

Overall, we found the entire facility to be clean and well-maintained, even if the seat cushions on the outdoor furniture were repeatedly stained. Nobody can do anything about the birds' natural needs, but better cleaning or more frequent replacement would help. Minor structural defects in and on the building, such as: B. crooked skirting boards, we are used to from the Arab-Asian region. You can even find them in a 5-star hotel. You simply cannot compare the construction with our German standards. But I think that many people don't notice these little things; I only notice them because of my job.

The location of the hotel on the Gulf of Oman, in the very north of the UAE, is quite remote. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the right place for you. But if you want to plunge into the hustle and bustle and nightlife, you should stay in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Having your own car is also an advantage, unless you take the hotel's airport shuttle. Anyone who uses this stays in the hotel and cannot move any further. With a rental car you are more flexible.

How is the service at Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort?

The service at Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort is truly outstanding. The employees are very friendly and accommodating. They are especially very nice to the children and always try to respond to them. We never got a bad look, even when our sunshine didn't feel like eating dinner and the restaurant screamed (luckily it only happened once).

When we arrived our luggage was unloaded from the car and taken to our room. When we checked in we were offered a drink and a date, which our little man in particular gratefully accepted. The car was parked in the underground car park for us, but was available to us at any time to fetch anything else (with a small child it's easy to forget the teddy bear in the car).

In the restaurant, service at breakfast and dinner was excellent and the tables were quickly re-set. The plates were cleared quickly and fresh cutlery was provided. We missed a price list for the drinks with dinner, as you have to pay for them yourself with half board. It was only upon departure that we found out that our large bottle of water cost 25 AED (6 EUR) each evening.

The towel service on the beach and at the pool was great. As already mentioned, the loungers were always prepared as soon as new guests arrived.

Summary

In our opinion, the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort deserves its 5 stars. The service is great, the atmosphere is great, the pool and beach are very nice and the food is really great. What more do you want? We are used to small structural defects in the Arab-Asian region. To round off the luxury package, the upholstery of the loungers and chairs should be cleaned more often. This is simply part of the cleanliness of a hotel. If you are looking for relaxation and Arabian flair, we can highly recommend the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort.
