Conrad Singapore Marina Bay

Conrad Singapore Marina Bay

Upon arriving in Singapore, we knew exactly what we wanted for our first few nights: a centrally located, comfortable hotel that also allowed us to take advantage of our Hilton status benefits. We chose the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay, a well-known luxury hotel in the heart of the city, which until recently was known as the Conrad Centennial Singapore. In this review, we share our personal impressions of the location, the rooms, the breakfast, the Executive Lounge, and the recreational facilities, and we'll show you who would particularly enjoy staying at this hotel.

Booking, arrival and check-in

Until recently, the hotel was known as the Conrad Centennial Singapore. In April 2025, it was officially renamed the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay. The new name was intended to emphasize its proximity to Marina Bay and the surrounding shops and attractions. In our opinion, this was a good fit, as this location was precisely what made the hotel so appealing.

As almost always, we booked our stay directly through the Hilton website We booked through our provider. There, we usually not only get the best price, but also all status benefits without restrictions. In this case, we booked the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay during a sale, which brought the price down to just under €250 per night. For Singapore and for a hotel of this category, we felt that was absolutely fair.

When choosing a Hilton hotel, I never focus solely on the room rate. For us, the overall package is what matters. Besides location, comfort, and good reviews, status benefits play a crucial role. These include, in particular, complimentary breakfast and access to the Executive Lounge with drinks and food in the evening. When you consider these benefits, the room rate becomes much less significant, and the hotel is difficult to compare to others.

We travelled overnight with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Singapore and arrived in the city early in the morning. Originally, we only planned to drop off our luggage at the hotel and then head out to explore the city. It was therefore all the more convenient that check-in was possible without any problems as early as 10:00 a.m. This suited us perfectly, especially our son, who had hardly slept on the plane.

Check-in was smooth and professional. Along with our room keys, we received a welcome letter with useful information about the hotel. It also clearly listed all the Hilton Diamond benefits, making the start of our stay pleasantly straightforward.

Where is the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay located?

The Conrad Singapore Marina Bay is located in the Marina Bay district, in the modern heart of Singapore. For us, it was therefore an excellent base for sightseeing. It took us about 10 to 15 minutes to walk to Marina Bay, where highlights such as the Merlion, Esplanade Park, and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel are located. Gardens by the Bay is also within easy walking distance of the hotel.

There were several large shopping malls right around the hotel, most notably Suntec City Mall and Marina Square Mall. Here we found plenty of shops, restaurants, and fast-food options. Public transport connections were also excellent. Both bus stops and the Promenade MRT station were just a short walk away. From there, we could easily reach other parts of the city, such as Chinatown, Little India, or Orchard Road. It was also convenient that the number 36 airport bus stopped directly in front of the hotel, making arrival and departure even easier.

Overall, we found the location of the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay to be very well-balanced: central, well-connected and yet pleasantly quiet – exactly the mix we had hoped for for the first half of our stay in Singapore.

What are the rooms like at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay?

We had originally booked a King Deluxe room and, thanks to our Hilton Diamond status, received an upgrade to a King Executive room on the 30th floor with access to the Executive Lounge. Such an upgrade is by no means a given in Singapore, so we were very pleased.

At around 40 square meters, the room was pleasantly large by Singaporean standards and offered ample space for the three of us. Immediately upon entering, to the left, was the spacious bathroom with its light marble floor. The numerous mirrors made it appear much more open and larger than it actually was. It featured a large, walk-in shower with a rain shower head, a separate bathtub, and a double vanity. However, the counter space at the sink was a bit limited. Another minor drawback was the bathroom's electrical system: while there was a built-in hairdryer, there was no additional outlet for personal devices like razors or another hairdryer. A nice, almost playful surprise was the rubber duck bearing the hotel's name. However, a cuddly toy, typical of the Conrad, was neither in the room nor on the bed.

In the hallway stood a large wardrobe with hanging space on one side and drawers and a spacious safe on the other. Plush bathrobes, an iron and ironing board, and an umbrella were provided. Directly opposite was the minibar. Four cartons of water, a kettle, and a Nespresso machine were complimentary. All other chilled beverages were available for purchase.

The living and sleeping area felt open and well-designed. The centerpiece was a large king-size box-spring bed with a thick mattress and four generously sized pillows. The hotel also offered an extensive pillow menu, including a U-shaped cuddle pillow for extra support and a buckwheat hull pillow that conformed to the head and neck. A long sofa ran along the window wall, which was converted into a full-fledged third bed for our son.

Opposite the bed hung a television. Below it was a sideboard with additional storage space. The room was complemented by a small table and chair, as well as a valet stand. The large windows offered a view of the nearby stadium. Both the blinds and the curtains were electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the bedside table – a small but very convenient detail.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a welcome gift of curry leaf cookies. Later that day, we found a large chocolate cookie, fresh strawberries, and mineral water. Two small cartons of milk were also provided for our son, which we thought was a very thoughtful touch.

Every evening, the turndown service arrived and prepared the bed, closed the curtains, and refilled small items like the ice bucket. A glass and water were also placed on the bedside table. These little rituals noticeably contributed to our comfort and perfectly complemented our stay at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay.

Overall, we really liked the room. The cream-colored walls, high-quality fabrics, and elegant furniture created a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. However, it was noticeable in a few places that the room wasn't brand new. For example, a hinge on the sideboard was broken and showed clear signs of wear.

What is breakfast like at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay?

Breakfast was served in Restaurant Oscar, the hotel's large main restaurant on the ground floor. We tried it on our first morning, arriving around 9:30 a.m. The restaurant was very busy at that time, and we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The wait was pleasantly shortened, however, as large jars of sweets were available in the entrance area for the children to help themselves to – a small gesture that our son really appreciated.

As soon as a table was free, the waitstaff escorted us to our seats, and we were able to immediately place our first drink order. The service was well-organized. The orange juice and coffee were served directly at the table. We were particularly impressed with the taste of the coffee. The only downside was the noise level, which was quite high due to the large number of guests. This made breakfast feel more lively than relaxed. We also found the tables for four to be a bit narrow, especially when several plates and drinks were on the table at once.

The buffet was impressively extensive and left little to be desired. There was a wide selection of fresh pastries, including gluten-free options, various types of bread, and sweet treats. The hot food section offered classic breakfast dishes as well as Malaysian and Indian specialties, Asian soups, rice dishes, and curries. Egg dishes such as fried eggs, omelets, and scrambled eggs were freshly prepared to order, which we always appreciate.

The selection of cold dishes was also extensive. There was a wide variety of freshly cut fruit of very good quality. This was complemented by yogurt, muesli, and various toppings. At one station, you could even have a salmon bagel made to your own specifications. The beverage station offered several freshly squeezed juices as well as different lassis. Surprisingly, there was even ice cream, which is certainly not something you'd expect at a hotel breakfast, but was a real highlight, especially for children.

Breakfast at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay was of very high quality and extremely varied. The wide selection and international focus were a perfect fit for Singapore. Our only complaint was the atmosphere during peak hours, as it was noisy and quite crowded. Those who prefer a quieter experience should arrive early or choose a less busy time. However, in terms of both content and taste, breakfast was definitely one of the highlights of our stay.

What is the Executive Lounge like at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay?

The Executive Lounge at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay was located on the 31st floor, the very top of the hotel, and impressed upon entering with its spacious yet pleasantly quiet design. Access was exclusively via an activated room key card, creating a noticeably private atmosphere.

The lounge was divided into several areas, thus offering suitable spaces for different needs. There were open seating areas with light-colored upholstered chairs, comfortable light brown leather armchairs, and larger seating groups that were well-suited for families. A sofa corner with a TV completed the offerings and was particularly inviting for longer stays during the day or in the evening.

Besides the large main room, there was a smaller, separate area designed like a library. With its four tables, bookshelves, and subdued lighting, this room felt much more private and peaceful. It was ideal for reading, working, or relaxed conversations away from the hustle and bustle.

The view was a real highlight. From the lounge, there was a magnificent view of Marina Bay, the adjacent shopping malls, and the surrounding skyscrapers. The view was particularly spectacular in the evening and at night when the Singapore skyline was illuminated. It was worth spending time in the lounge for that alone.

Service staff were present throughout the entire opening hours. Drinks were always served at the table; there was no self-service drinks buffet. This emphasized the exclusive character of the lounge and ensured very attentive and personalized service.

The Executive Lounge was open daily from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm, thus covering all important times of day: from breakfast to afternoon tea to evening cocktails.

Breakfast in the Executive Lounge (6:30 am – 10:00 am)
On the second morning, we deliberately chose to have breakfast in the lounge. Compared to the very busy Oscar restaurant, it was significantly quieter and more relaxed, which was a big plus for us. While the buffet was smaller than in the main restaurant, it still offered a very good selection.

There were fresh baked goods, cereals, salads, a small selection of cheeses, and hot classics like bacon and hash browns. The menu was complemented by Asian options, including Lotus Bao. We particularly appreciated the option to order egg dishes fresh to order, including Eggs Benedict. These were excellently prepared, with just the right amount of hollandaise sauce.

In addition, there were avocado croissants and bagels. Even if something wasn't available at the buffet, the staff tried to make it happen. For example, our son wanted pancakes, which weren't actually offered in the lounge. However, the team quickly arranged for them from the restaurant. We didn't take this level of service for granted, and it left a very positive impression.

Afternoon Tea (2:30 pm – 4:30 pm)
In the afternoon, a classic English afternoon tea was offered in the lounge. Drinks were served at the table. The selection included soft drinks, coffee, various teas, beer, and several wines.

The food was served buffet-style. There were classic scones, both with and without raisins, along with clotted cream and strawberry jam, just as one would expect from afternoon tea. The selection was complemented by various Asian specialties, small cakes, sandwiches, and fresh fruit. Overall, the offerings were well-balanced and ideal for a short break between sightseeing and the evening's entertainment.

Evening Cocktail (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
The Evening Cocktail was the culinary highlight of the day in the Executive Lounge. Full table service was offered, including cocktails, long drinks, mocktails, as well as beer, wine, and soft drinks, all freshly prepared. Self-service was not available, but thanks to the attentive service, it wasn't necessary.

In the adjoining room was a buffet with a daily changing selection of hot dishes. This was complemented by soup, a salad bar, a cheese selection, small canapés, and desserts. The hot dishes featured both Western and Asian/Indian influences, but were always moderately seasoned and not spicy. For us, the selection was perfectly adequate as a light dinner.

However, we found it less understandable that children under twelve were not allowed to participate in the "Evening Cocktail" event. Unlike in other Conrad hotels, for example in Bangkok (where it is our hotel reviewNo real alternative was offered. This meant our son had to stay in the room until almost 8 pm, and we had to get some things from the buffet for him and pile them up on our table just before then. We felt this was an unfortunate solution for an otherwise very family-friendly hotel.

Overall, the Executive Lounge at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay left a very positive impression. The personalized service, the tranquil atmosphere, and the high quality of the food were a real asset to our stay – apart from the family-oriented evening arrangements, which were somewhat restrictive.

What does the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay offer for relaxation?

For relaxation, the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay primarily offered the outdoor pool and the fitness center. Both were located on the hotel's fourth floor. The 25-meter-long pool was a decent size, but rather shallow overall, making it less suitable for swimming laps and more ideal for cooling off and relaxing.

Around the pool were several sun loungers and a few pergolas with integrated seating areas, offering pleasant shade. We were pleasantly surprised by the poolside service: a glass of water with lemon and ice was brought to us without us even asking – a small but very thoughtful gesture that perfectly suited the standards of a Conrad hotel.

We found the pool's location, in close proximity to a conference and event area, somewhat inconvenient. During our first visit, an event was taking place, meaning that conference attendees were enjoying canapés and wine right next to the pool. This noticeably disrupted the relaxed atmosphere and seemed a bit of an unfortunate solution for a hotel of this category.

The pool was open daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, allowing for both early morning and evening swims. Towels were readily available right by the pool.

The fitness center was also located on the fourth floor and was open 24/7. We didn't use it during our stay, but from the outside it looked modern and well-equipped.

Overall, the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay offered solid recreational opportunities, scoring particularly well due to its attentive service, although the pool location was not quite ideal.

Overall, the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay impressed us with its excellent location, spacious rooms (by Singapore standards), and high level of service. As Hilton Diamond members, we particularly benefited from the comprehensive package including access to the Executive Lounge, breakfast, and thoughtful touches in the room. The Executive Lounge, with its magnificent view of Marina Bay, was a definite highlight of our stay. Minor drawbacks were noticeable, especially during peak breakfast times at the "Oscar" restaurant, and the pool's proximity to the conference area. We also felt the policy regarding children's evening cocktails wasn't ideal. However, these points didn't detract from our overall comfort at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay. For travelers seeking a central location, valuing comfort, and especially those with Hilton status, this hotel is highly recommended in Singapore – particularly if you can find a good deal or a sale price.

My name is Christian, I was born in the green heart of Germany and studied computer engineering in Ilmenau. Today, I live with my wife Christin and our son in Merseburg, but work in Leipzig as a product manager. For me, travelling has always been more than just a change of scenery. I loved getting on a plane, discovering new cuisines and feeling at home in special hotels. This mixture of enjoyment, curiosity and wanderlust was the reason why I started writing about my experiences on this blog back in 2007. Whether it was a spontaneous weekend adventure or a big trip across continents, I wanted to share my passion and show how many beautiful stories the world has to offer. And to this day, I am always on the lookout for the next place that will surprise me.
