Conrad Bangkok

Conrad Bangkok

The selection of luxury hotels in Bangkok is truly incredible. We chose the five-star Conrad Bangkok for the second half of our stay in Bangkok. You can find out more about the hotel's amenities and how we liked the rooms in our hotel review.

Arrival and check-in

We drove to the hotel and headed for the parking garage. There's a separate level for hotel guests with direct access to the hotel. However, you have to climb several flights of stairs. An elevator is only available from the floor above. This can be problematic if, like us, you make the mistake of taking your suitcases into the parking garage.

We received a warm welcome at reception and, as Hilton Diamond guests, were invited to the Executive Lounge on the 29th floor. A member of staff escorted us from reception to the lounge, where we relaxed during check-in and enjoyed afternoon tea. Overall, the check-in process was very professional and lived up to the hotel's five-star rating. We received an upgrade from our booked Deluxe Room with a king-size bed to a King Executive Room.

Where is the Conrad Bangkok located?

The Conrad Bangkok is located in the All Seasons Place complex in the Pathum Wan district in the eastern part of the city. The nearest BTS station, Phloen Chit, is about a 10-minute walk away. Lumphini Park, a central city park with an artificial lake inhabited by monitor lizards, is in the immediate vicinity.

What are the rooms (King Executive Room) like at the Conrad Bangkok?

Our King Executive Room was located on the 31st floor. Immediately to the right upon entering the room was the large bathroom with a marble floor. It featured a large freestanding bathtub, a shower, and a toilet with a variety of functions. The vanity with a large mirror offered ample storage space. The Mojave Ghost brand toiletries were plentiful and of good quality. The bathroom was separated from the sleeping area by a floor-to-ceiling glass partition. For privacy, a curtain could be lowered electrically.

In the hallway was a large wardrobe with a safe, iron, and several drawers. Aside from a hanging area, the storage space for clothes was limited. The luggage rack integrated into the wardrobe was also a bit too small for modern travel luggage.

The combined sleeping/living area, as is typical in hotels, opened to the rear and featured a large king-size bed with several high-quality pillows. To the left and right of the bed were bedside tables with ample power outlets, USB ports, and multiple light switches. These controlled the various ambient lighting options, including dimming, and operated the electric curtains and blinds. The room also included a well-stocked minibar – though with prices commensurate with a five-star hotel. There was an additional luggage rack beneath the television. Along the room's wide window front, a desk stood to the left, while a small sofa, a comfortable armchair, and a coffee table were positioned to the right.

What is breakfast like at the Conrad Bangkok?

The breakfast restaurant, "Cafe@2," was located on the second floor of the hotel. Unlike many other hotels, I would generally advise against having breakfast in the restaurant at the Conrad Bangkok and recommend breakfast in the Executive Lounge if possible. This isn't so much due to the food selection, but rather the large crowds and the limited number of tables in the rather dark, narrow restaurant. For this reason, we only had breakfast there on our first morning.

As mentioned, the selection was very diverse. There was a choice of international cuisine as well as Japanese, Malaysian, Thai, and Indian dishes. Egg dishes such as eggs Benedict or scrambled eggs were freshly prepared and served at the table. There was also a large fruit and salad buffet. Juices and smoothies were also available. However, as mentioned above, the ambiance is not very inviting. The dark and long breakfast room unfortunately only offers a very limited number of window seats at one end. A shame for such a high-end and excellent hotel.

What is the Executive Lounge like at the Conrad Bangkok?

The Executive Lounge at the Conrad Bangkok is located on the 29th floor and occupies half the floor. The lounge is spacious and offers ample seating. Although the lounge was always very busy during mealtimes during our stay, we never had any trouble finding a table. However, if you want a seat by the window to enjoy the beautiful view, you sometimes need to arrive a little earlier. The Executive Lounge at the Conrad Bangkok is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM and offers soft drinks, water, various hot beverages, fruit and nuts, as well as three meals throughout the day.

Breakfast in the lounge is served from 6:00 to 10:30 a.m. and is much more pleasant than in the hotel restaurant. For one thing, the lounge definitely boasts a better view than the breakfast restaurant. It's brighter, quieter, and the service is somewhat better than in the "Cafe@2" restaurant on the hotel's second floor. In addition to a large buffet with a variety of hot and cold dishes, there's also an à la carte option. The menu features Asian dishes like dim sum, as well as international classics such as eggs Benedict and avocado toast.

Afternoon tea is served in the Executive Lounge from 2 pm to 4 pm. The buffet offers scones with jam and whipped cream, various sandwiches, and other treats.

Every evening from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, an evening cocktail and hors d'oeuvres are served. Upon arrival, we were escorted to our table by the waitstaff. In addition to a drinks menu, a selection of canapés was offered. Further food was available at the buffet, where we usually had a choice of three or four hot dishes and various desserts. Drinks could be ordered from the staff. The drinks menu offered a wide selection of spirits, three types of beer, two wines, a champagne, and various cocktails and mocktails.

Children under 12 are not permitted at the evening cocktail reception in the Executive Lounge. We were already familiar with this rule from the Conrad Dubai. However, in Bangkok, they came up with a good solution. We were able to order a bento box including drinks every evening, which was delivered to our room at the desired time.

What does the Conrad Bangkok offer for relaxation?

Like most luxury hotels in Bangkok, the Conrad naturally has a swimming pool and a fitness center. While the equipment in the fitness area isn't exactly state-of-the-art, the selection of cardio and strength training machines is very extensive.

The pool is located on the seventh floor and is beautifully landscaped. The hotel's age is a definite plus here. The vegetation in the tropical garden is quite lush and provides plenty of shade. There's a large main pool and a smaller whirlpool area with a waterfall. Upon arrival, a member of staff prepares the sun loungers for you by the pool, so you don't have to worry about a thing – it's excellent service. The loungers have comfortable, thick cushions, and there are plenty of parasols as well.

Our stay at the Conrad Bangkok was perfect, just as we expected. Our King Executive Room on the 31st floor offered all the amenities we needed. We'll especially remember the large king-size bed with its many high-quality pillows. We slept like a dream in it. As a status guest, we recommend having breakfast in the Executive Lounge rather than the hotel restaurant. Overall, we were very impressed with the lounge's offerings and ambiance. As is typical in Asia, genuine service and hospitality are still a hallmark of the hotel. In conclusion, booking a stay at the Conrad Bangkok is definitely worthwhile.
