The Hilton Budapest City is one of two Hilton hotels in the Hungarian capital. For our weekend trip to Budapest, we chose this Hilton on the Pest side of the Danube, partly because of its convenient access to the airport. Find out whether this was a good decision in our hotel review.
Booking, arrival and check-in
We arrived at the Hilton Budapest City early Saturday evening. I had already checked in the day before using the Hilton app. There, I received the pleasant news that we had been upgraded from our standard room to a King Executive Suite. All we had to do was sign at the front desk and receive our room keys. The young woman at the front desk was very accommodating and even gave us some tips and maps for our city trip.

Where is the Hilton Budapest City located?
The hotel is centrally located near Budapest Nyugati Railway Station, providing excellent public transportation connections. Furthermore, the WestEnd shopping center is directly connected to the hotel and offers numerous shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Other attractions, such as the Parliament Building, are just a 15-minute walk away.

What are the rooms (King Executive Suite) like at the Hilton Budapest City?
Our King Executive Suite was adequately large and had a straightforward floor plan. It quickly became apparent that the suite consisted of two standard guest rooms.

Directly beyond the entrance door, on the right, was the bathroom with a bathtub and walk-in shower. In the hallway, there was also a large wardrobe with an ironing board and two bathrobes.

Due to the lack of decoration, the living room looked somewhat bare. The furniture—a sofa, an armchair, and a lounger—seemed a bit lost. As a surprise, a welcome gift from the hotel sat on a side table. Thank you for the sweet treat and the champagne—that's what makes Diamond status guests feel right at home!

The bedroom, with its large closet and king-size bed, appeared more thoughtfully furnished. There was also a desk and a stocked minibar.

The hotel's age was clearly evident in the furnishings. The outdated design and the wear and tear on the wardrobes were clearly visible. The upholstered furniture and the bed appeared to have been recently updated, as there were hardly any signs of wear. Nevertheless, we were satisfied with our suite, especially given its cleanliness.
What is breakfast like at the Hilton Budapest City?
For breakfast, we went to the hotel restaurant, "Arrabona." It's located on the mezzanine below the first floor. The many windows make it pleasantly bright and welcoming. In the warm summer months, you can also sit outside for breakfast on the terrace. The tables were set, and the staff always tried to keep everything clean and tidy. Just seconds after we sat down, a waiter came and offered us coffee and orange juice. This is the kind of service I expect in a five-star hotel.

The breakfast offerings were clearly spread across three buffets. It offered everything you'd expect from a good standard breakfast at first glance. However, for a luxury hotel, we expect a few extras. In addition to the buffet, we were able to order freshly prepared egg dishes. This maintained the positive overall impression!

What is the Executive Lounge like at the Hilton Budapest City?
Thanks to our Hilton Diamond status and an Executive Room, we were able to visit the Executive Lounge at the Hilton Budapest City. The lounge is located on the fourth floor of the hotel.

Access is available via room card from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. During this time, complimentary coffee, water, soft drinks, and small snacks and cakes are available. Breakfast is served in the lounge from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Since we had breakfast in the main restaurant, "Arrabona," we cannot comment on the selection and quality of the food.

In the evening (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.), the Hilton Budapest City invites you to a happy hour in the Executive Lounge. During this time, the drinks selection is supplemented by various spirits, wine, and beer. In addition, three hot meals and a small selection of salads and antipasti are offered. The food was delicious, and the service was always friendly.

In addition to the seating in the dining area, there's also an outdoor terrace. In winter, this serves as a kind of conservatory. There's also an iMac with internet access and a printer available for your use.
