For our trip to the United Arab Emirates, we chose a 5-star hotel on the Gulf of Oman. Fairmont Fujairah Beach This resort, located in the far north and somewhat secluded, but with plenty of charm, was where we hoped for an Arabian dream. We spent almost a week there and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You can read about our experience at the hotel and everything surrounding it in this post.

Arrival and check-in
After an overnight stay in Dubai, we drove a rental car 155 kilometers to the east coast of the United Arab Emirates. The drive took us through the barren Hajar Mountains to the coast of the Gulf of Oman. Upon arriving at the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort, we received a warm welcome, and check-in in the opulent lobby was quick and efficient.

Where is the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort located?
The exclusive Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort is located in the northeast of the United Arab Emirates, specifically in Fujairah, one of the country's seven emirates. Fujairah is known for its stunning coastline on the Gulf of Oman and the picturesque mountains that surround the region.

The resort itself is ideally located on the beach and offers its guests breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman. With a combination of modern architecture and traditional Arabian elements, the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort blends harmoniously into its surroundings.
What are the rooms like at the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort?
The hotel has 180 rooms and suites. These are decorated in a modern Arabian style with dark furniture and simple white accents. We stayed in a guest room overlooking the marina. Right in the entrance area of our 40-square-meter room, behind the heavy front door, was a large, spacious wardrobe with an integrated safe and plenty of storage space.

Opposite the entrance was the bathroom, which was equipped with two sinks, a bathtub, a rain shower, and a small additional room for the toilet. The marble vanity and the white wall tiles complemented each other very well stylistically. The dark wood was also reflected in small details. We found the shower a bit too small, especially since the shower door also slammed into the shower area. In contrast, we found the adjacent toilet very spacious. Perhaps the two rooms should have been swapped? Despite the bathroom's size, we felt there was a lack of storage space, as the sinks took up a lot of room on the vanity. We really liked the large bathroom mirror. The bathroom in the bathtub area could be opened towards the bed by means of two wooden flaps. Our son, in particular, found this fascinating and liked to peek inside while brushing his teeth.

Unfortunately, there were a few minor construction defects here as well: one of the two faucets was loose. Housekeeping did reattach it, but after two days it was loose again. I simply think the choice of faucet was the wrong one. It kept coming loose every time I used it or turned on the water. Also, the drain strainer in the shower was pushed out. Housekeeping should have noticed that, so I just put it back in.

The room had a large desk with two USB charging ports, a king-size bed with a beautiful dark wood headboard, and an armchair with a footstool and side table. We found the bed a bit too soft, but everyone has their own preferences. A crib with cute teddy bear bedding was ready for our son upon our arrival. Large patio doors led to a spacious private balcony. The seating and table contrasted with the white rattan furniture in the room. Like the cushions on the sun loungers at the beach and pool, these cushions were also slightly stained. The air conditioning in the hotel room was very pleasant, quiet, and easy to regulate. As a nice touch, there was a Nespresso machine, a fruit plate, and cookies. We thought this was very thoughtful, and our son especially appreciated it. We found the lighting in the room and bathroom to be beautifully accentuated and, above all, pleasant. There was a suitable setting for every time of day.
What is breakfast like at the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort?
The selection at breakfast and dinner was very good. Despite the size of the hotel, it wasn't mass-produced food from a large kitchen, but rather very carefully and finely selected ingredients.

Breakfast consisted of hot and cold dishes, such as cold cuts and cheese, pancakes and waffles, muesli, cornflakes, all kinds of bread, and desserts. There was also salad and plenty of fruit. Water, juice, and a wide selection of coffee specialties were included in the price.
Dinner was equally good and varied. There were supposed to be themed evenings two or three times a week, but these didn't really happen. However, we did have a selection of food from all over the world, such as Indian, Arabic, and European dishes. Of course, not everything was available every evening, but rather spread out over the days. Perhaps these were meant to be themed evenings, but the hotel description interpreted this differently. In addition, there were cold dishes every evening, such as cold cuts and cheese, a large selection of salads with various types of bread, and desserts that were absolutely delicious.

For the little ones, there was always one or two extras, like mac and cheese or pasta with tomato sauce for dinner. So if our son didn't like the international food, he could have pasta instead. We especially appreciated the personal milk service for our little boy. At breakfast and dinner, we always received a pitcher of warm soy milk at our table, as it wasn't available at the buffet. But it doesn't hurt to ask, and they were happy to accommodate our request. That, too, is part of good service in our opinion.
What does the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort offer for relaxation?
The Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort captivates with its oriental décor. It evokes the feeling of a scene from One Thousand and One Nights. Dark furniture and artistic accents, contrasting with plenty of white, dominate the decor and underscore the modern interplay of ancient culture and Western lifestyle. All rooms are furnished in the same style and thematically fit perfectly with the United Arab Emirates. Oriental clichés are not overdone here; everything is harmoniously coordinated.

The hotel is beautifully designed and, despite its many rooms, easy to navigate. Because it's situated on a hillside, the entrance level isn't the same as the pool and beach, as is often the case with other hotels. These are located a few floors below. Even the pool and beach levels aren't on the same level. The hotel cleverly incorporates terraces that house the various service areas. All levels are accessible by elevator, which is a definite advantage for families with strollers. The hotel boasts five different restaurants and bars. The main restaurant, Canvas, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The pool area is located on the same level as the Canvas restaurant. At first, it seemed a bit small for the number of rooms and therefore potential guests. However, we never felt overcrowded or like we couldn't find a spot in the pool. For added fun, there are even inflatable toys and balls, which we gladly accepted. Next to the main pool, there's a children's area. It's so spacious that parents can easily accompany their little ones. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool, with a wide variety of options. From simple loungers to large sunbeds and beach tents, everything is available.

The beach is on the lowest level and was a bit awkward to reach during our hotel stay. We didn't find this too bothersome, as everyone has a different definition of "awkward." Soon, there will be a newly designed section of the beach, accessible directly from the pool level via stairs and elevators. The construction work is nearing completion and didn't disrupt our enjoyment of the beach. The beach is situated in an artificially created bay, so unfortunately, there's hardly any fresh seawater. We found the artificially deposited shell-lime sand to be quite hard and stony, but this didn't bother our son. He played and splashed around in the sand just like he would in any other beach.

There are plenty of sun loungers on the beach, as well as towels, which you can easily take from the towel stand. Even if no loungers are free, the staff immediately checks which ones are reserved with towels but not in use. These are then cleaned and prepared for the next guest. We think that's excellent service. The loungers by the pool and on the beach are very comfortable, although a bit stained. Perhaps the cushions could be replaced more often. For us with a toddler, the large and sturdy parasol was very important. Not some flimsy little thing that can't withstand the slightest breeze. There was one parasol for every two loungers, so no one had to fight for shade.

Overall, we found the entire complex to be clean and well-maintained, even though the cushions on the outdoor furniture were frequently stained. No one can control the birds' natural droppings, but better cleaning or more frequent replacement would certainly help. We're used to minor structural defects in and around the building, such as crooked baseboards, from the Arab-Asian region. You even find them in a 5-star hotel. You simply can't compare the construction quality to our German standards. However, I think many people wouldn't even notice these little things; I only notice them because of my job.
The hotel's location on the Gulf of Oman, in the far north of the UAE, is quite remote. It's ideal for those seeking peace and quiet. However, those wanting to immerse themselves in the hustle and bustle and nightlife should stay in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Having your own car is also advantageous, unless you take the hotel's airport shuttle. Using the shuttle, however, limits you to the hotel and restricts your travel. A rental car offers greater flexibility.
What is the service like at the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort?
The service at the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort is truly outstanding. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They are especially kind to children and always try to cater to their needs. We never received a disapproving look, even when our little one didn't want to eat dinner and screamed the place down (thankfully, this only happened once).

When we arrived, our luggage was unloaded from the car and taken to our room. At check-in, we were offered a drink and a date, which our little one especially appreciated. The car was parked for us in the underground garage, but we were always available to use it if we needed to get something (with a toddler, it's easy to forget their teddy bear in the car).

The service at the restaurant was excellent at both breakfast and dinner, and the tables were quickly reset. Plates were cleared promptly, and fresh cutlery was provided. We were surprised to find no price list for drinks at dinner, as these are not included in the half-board price. Only upon departure did we discover that our large bottle of water cost 25 AED (6 EUR) every evening.
The towel service at the beach and pool was excellent. As mentioned before, the sun loungers were always made up immediately as soon as new guests arrived.
