This category is all about flight experiences with Airbus aircraft – from short-haul jets to long-haul flagships. We report on our personal experiences on board various Airbus types, compare cabin concepts, and evaluate seat comfort, service, and amenities.
The focus is particularly on business class products, seat layouts, and differences between individual airlines. In our trip reports, we show what a flight on an Airbus felt like in everyday life – from boarding and entertainment to landing. Topics such as mileage redemptions, status benefits, and lounge access also play a role.
This page is aimed at frequent flyers, aviation enthusiasts and anyone who wants to know what to expect in an Airbus – factual, detailed and based on personal travel experience.
Last August, Robert from robisintheair.de asked me if I'd like to fly with him to San Francisco on SAS Go in an Airbus A340-300. At a price of just under €200, I didn't have to think twice before accepting. You can find out what service is offered on the 11-hour flight in SAS Economy Class in the following trip report.
Some might shake their heads at the idea of spending an afternoon on a Greek holiday taking four flights. For many, flying to the island of Chios for just 25 minutes makes no sense. For me, however, this mileage run with Aegean Airlines was precisely the missing piece of the puzzle to extend my Star Alliance Gold status for another year through the Miles+Bonus program.
Thanks to an error fare, we flew Air Canada Business Class on an Airbus A330-300 from Munich to Toronto. Despite complications during boarding and an outdated Business Class seat, Air Canada still managed to impress us with its service and the quality of the food. You can find out how satisfied we were overall in this trip report.
A flight in Lufthansa Business Class sounds like comfort, first-class service, and a touch of luxury. But how good is the product really on short-haul flights in the Airbus A320? We tested the new Europa cabin on our flight from Oslo to Munich and discovered both its strengths and weaknesses. In this review, you'll find out whether an upgrade is worth it and what you can actually expect on board.
In July 2016, I was lucky enough to be on the maiden flight of Singapore Airlines' Airbus A350-900 from Düsseldorf. I have already written a detailed article about this. In this review, I would like to tell you what the return flight in the Singapore Airlines Business Class Airbus A350-900 from Singapore to Düsseldorf was like. There is also a brief insight into the First and Business Class SilverKris Lounge at Singapore Airport.
Once you have frequent flyer status, you want to defend it every year. I have had Star Alliance Gold status with the Greek airline Aegean Airlines for almost five years now. As we hardly travelled by plane this year due to the birth of our son in January, we had to do a mileage run to extend our status.
At 06:10 on 22 July 2016, the Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 landed in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital for the first time and was traditionally greeted with a water fountain. From now on, the renowned five-star airline will be connecting Düsseldorf Airport with its hub in Singapore three times a week non-stop. I was lucky enough to be on the inaugural Singapore Airlines Business Class flight in the Airbus A350-900 from Düsseldorf.
Starting July 21, 2016, Düsseldorf will be the third German city served by Singapore Airlines. The non-stop flights to and from Singapore will be operated with the new Airbus A350-900. We will be present on the inaugural Düsseldorf-Singapore flight of the latest addition to the Singapore Airlines fleet.
During our online check-in for our return flight with British Airways to Oslo, I was briefly confused by the seating arrangement. Two seats, a single seat, and then two seats again. That looks like business class à la Swiss, doesn't it?! A "real" business class on a European flight? I guess I'm lucky enough to be flying British Airways long-haul business class on the Airbus A321.
With SAS Plus, the Scandinavian airline has created a fantastic product in Premium Economy class. In the following trip report, you'll learn what service and amenities you can expect in SAS's Premium Economy on long-haul flights.
