Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy

Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy

For our stay in Singapore, we had reserved a room at the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy for three nights. After arriving at the airport, we went to the Ground Transportation desk on the arrivals level. There, we received information about the departure time and location of the free hotel shuttle. Unfortunately, we missed the bus by 10 minutes and had to wait another 50 minutes.

Booking, arrival and check-in

We arrived at the hotel after a 20-minute drive in pouring rain. Our suitcases were unloaded from the bus and taken to the lobby. In the meantime, we were able to check in. This was done without any waiting and without any problems. Thanks to our Platinum status, we received a free upgrade to the Executive Floor, the 17th and top floor, including access to the Executive Lounge. Here, we were provided with breakfast, as well as drinks and snacks in the evening.

What are the rooms (Executive Room) like at the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy?

The Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy has 576 hotel rooms, differing almost only in their view and floor. Our Executive Room was very spacious at 32 square meters and modernly furnished. While the furniture was a bit worn, it didn't look old or shabby. The bathroom was very clean, and there were plenty of high-quality toiletries available. Overall, the room was a bit dated, but spotlessly clean. The Wi-Fi was free and fast enough.

We were especially pleased with the welcome. The hotel manager had prepared a personalized letter, a bottle of water, apples, and small sweets for us.

What is the Executive Lounge like at the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy?

The Executive Lounge is open to all guests who have booked a room on the Executive Floor or a suite.

At breakfast in the lounge, we enjoyed the magnificent view of East Coast Park. The buffet selection was plentiful. There was fresh fruit, salad, various pastries, toast, croissants, cornflakes, and a variety of hot dishes such as Asian noodles, scrambled eggs, and beans. Drinks, including various juices and coffee specialties, were served by the waiting staff.

Alcoholic drinks and snacks are served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Red and white wines by the glass, beer, soft drinks, and freshly squeezed juices are available. Doritos are the best snacks!

In addition to breakfast and evening snacks, the Executive Lounge offers complimentary soft drinks, coffee, and tea throughout the day. A conference room and a fully equipped computer corner are also available.

The hotel's facilities include a large outdoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and several restaurants and bars. The pool is a comfortable size and open until 10 p.m. Towels and loungers are plentiful.

The hotel offers a half-hour shuttle service to the airport or the city center (Marina Bay and Orchard Road every hour on the hour on weekend mornings). We used both without any problems. Those who prefer a more independent approach can also take a taxi or the bus, which departs directly from the hotel.

Christian

I'm Christian, born in the green heart of Germany, and I studied computer engineering in Ilmenau. Today, I live in Merseburg with my wife Christin and our son, but I work in Leipzig as a product manager. For me, travel has always been more than just a change of scenery. I loved boarding a plane, discovering new cuisines, and feeling at home in special hotels. This mix of enjoyment, curiosity, and wanderlust is why I started writing about my experiences on this blog back in 2007. Whether a spontaneous weekend adventure or a grand journey across continents, I wanted to share my passion and show how many wonderful stories the world holds. And to this day, I'm always on the lookout for the next place that will surprise me.
