Antibes

Hafen von Antibes

We had actually already completed our to-do list for our stay on the Côte d’Azur. So we use the last full day for a trip to the small port town of Antibes. Which turned out to be not so small, as the city has 74,120 inhabitants. But we didn't see much of this size in the harbor and in the old town.

Antibes – Fort Carre

We parked our car in a small parking lot at the entrance to the village. This was free and is advertised as a starting point for the Fort Carré. We circled this star shaped fort which gave us a great view of the harbour. A visit was not worthwhile for us.

Then we crossed the port area. There we marveled again at the many small and large ships. The largest yachts usually have at least two boats, one of which is only there for cleaning. The largest ship that came before the camera today was the 124.40 meter long "Katara". This belongs, how could it be otherwise, to the current Emir of Qatar.

After a lunch break at the port entrance of Antibes, we explored the city center. We found the small weekly market the most beautiful. Spices, flowers, meat, fish and vegetables were offered here. In order to see the real hustle and bustle of the market, you should be there before noon. Before we headed back to our car, we took our time and strolled a little through the cute little streets.

Arrived at the car we drove south towards Cape Antibes. There are many villas and luxurious hotels and restaurants. However, the coast is very rocky, but there are still a few nice places to swim.
