Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Frankfurt

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Frankfurt

I've read many positive reviews about the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge at Frankfurt Airport on various blogs. Some frequent flyers even consider it one of the best Star Alliance Gold lounges at Frankfurt Airport. We had time to visit the lounge before our flight to Dubai.

Where is the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt?

The Maple Leaf Lounge at Frankfurt Airport is located in Terminal 1 (Area B, Non-Schengen Area). After passport control, we followed the clear signage and took the escalator on the left up to the third level. The lounge entrance, paneled in light wood, was then on the right.

Who has access to the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt?

The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt is open to all Air Canada Business Class passengers. In addition, all Business and First Class passengers of any Star Alliance airline have access. Guests with Star Alliance Gold status also have access to the lounge, regardless of their service class, when traveling on a Star Alliance flight on the same day. As a special exception, premium customers of the South American airline LATAM, although part of the Oneworld alliance, are also permitted to use the lounge.

What are the amenities of the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt?

Just inside the glass door stood a model of a Boeing 787 in Air Canada livery. After our tickets and frequent flyer cards were scanned at the reception desk, we were politely invited into the lounge. The beautiful glass and light installation in the center of the seating area immediately caught our eye. The artwork strongly reminded us of our visit to Dale Chihuly Museum in Seattle. A bench with several lounge chairs was arranged around the glass-enclosed fire pit. Decorative tree trunks served as small tables between them.

In addition, several different seating options were available within the lounge. Besides armchairs along the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the apron, there was also a slightly darker area with armchairs at the rear. This was also the quiet zone, which included small, separate cabanas. These were equipped with reclining chairs and a small television with headphones. At the front of the lounge, next to the buffet, there were additional tables and chairs for dining. The staff was efficient in maintaining cleanliness and quickly tidied up.

In addition, the Air Canada Lounge in Frankfurt featured a business center with computers, a multifunction printer, and workspaces. While it goes without saying, free Wi-Fi was available throughout the lounge. Showers were also available in the spacious restrooms near the entrance for passengers wanting to freshen up before or after a long-haul flight.

What food and drinks are available in the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt?

The beverage selection in the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge at Frankfurt Airport was extensive and should satisfy virtually every guest. Alcoholic beverages included two white wines, one red wine, a French sparkling wine, and various spirits. In addition to a variety of bottled juices and waters, the usual soft drinks were available on tap. Naturally, two fully automatic coffee machines were also on hand, preparing the most popular coffee specialties.

When we entered the lounge, the buffet was just changing from breakfast to lunch. A large food dome offered fresh salads, various pestos, sandwiches, soft drinks, fruit, and desserts. A smaller buffet featured pasta, beans, BBQ chicken, potato gratin, bread, cakes, and donuts.

Our stay in the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt was very impressive, especially for a business lounge. We particularly enjoyed the campfire atmosphere. The selection of food and drinks is a step below that of the Lufthansa Senator Lounges. The Air Canada Lounge is smaller than the Lufthansa lounges, but typically much quieter outside of Air Canada's operating hours.

I'm Christian, born in the green heart of Germany, and I studied computer engineering in Ilmenau. Today, I live in Merseburg with my wife Christin and our son, but I work in Leipzig as a product manager. For me, travel has always been more than just a change of scenery. I loved boarding a plane, discovering new cuisines, and feeling at home in special hotels. This mix of enjoyment, curiosity, and wanderlust is why I started writing about my experiences on this blog back in 2007. Whether a spontaneous weekend adventure or a grand journey across continents, I wanted to share my passion and show how many wonderful stories the world holds. And to this day, I'm always on the lookout for the next place that will surprise me.

The Air Canada Lounge looks good, but it's simply a disaster! The reception was unfriendly and the food was terrible. If you wanted something hot from the buffet (like pasta), they simply said it was out. After the bottles of red wine ran out, we asked for more. There was wine, but no corkscrew. Asking at the desk was pointless, as the woman's response was, "Well, if that's how it is, then that's how it is!"
