AirAsia Economy Class Airbus A320-200 to Kuala Lumpur

AirAsia A320-200 arriving in Kuala Lumpur

We flew from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur. We chose an AirAsia Economy Class Airbus A320. We took a taxi from the smog of Hanoi to Noi Bai International Airport at 6:30 a.m. After about a 40-minute drive, we arrived in the departure hall of Terminal 1. Noi Bai International Airport is a bit dated and looks like it did during the GDR era.

At the check-in counter, we picked up our paper tickets (handwritten, mind you) for flight AK 871 to Kuala Lumpur. Fortunately, no one was interested in our carry-on luggage. A border guard, a Stasi officer in the manner of an unfriendly and grim-faced man, then validated our visa.

Our plane, an Airbus A320-200 (registration: 9M-AFP, first flight: 2006), arrived in Hanoi 20 minutes late. This meant we were about 30 minutes behind schedule for departure. The pre-ordered meals began being served during the climb. Since there was no breakfast for us today, we were incredibly hungry. So we enjoyed the smoked chicken focaccia, small fruit-filled cookies, and a cup of water. Not bad for about €2.50.

We were satisfied with the service and the aircraft's amenities. The seat pitch is quite acceptable for a so-called budget airline.

My name is Christian, I was born in the green heart of Germany and studied computer engineering in Ilmenau. Today, I live with my wife Christin and our son in Merseburg, but work in Leipzig as a product manager. For me, travelling has always been more than just a change of scenery. I loved getting on a plane, discovering new cuisines and feeling at home in special hotels. This mixture of enjoyment, curiosity and wanderlust was the reason why I started writing about my experiences on this blog back in 2007. Whether it was a spontaneous weekend adventure or a big trip across continents, I wanted to share my passion and show how many beautiful stories the world has to offer. And to this day, I am always on the lookout for the next place that will surprise me.
