With Quickcoach to Seattle

Seattle Downtown vom Kerry Park

The night ended pretty early again. Yes, yes, the time change. At 9:00 am we checked out and made our 2 minute walk to the Vancouver to Seattle Quickcoach bus departure station. The luggage was loaded by the bus driver and we looked for a seat in the somewhat old bus. The website said wifi would be available on all buses. That was also the case, but unfortunately you could not connect to it, neither with iOS nor with Android. Only shortly before the end of our journey did another guest draw the driver's attention to this and he restarted the system. Then it also worked with the Internet, more badly than right.

Quickcoach – Trouble when entering the USA

We left on time and picked up a few people around Vancouver and at the airport. After 1 1/2 hours drive we arrived at the border. Everyone had to get out and take their luggage and queue to get through security. We thought this is where the first class rose would cause us trouble again, but the officer was merciful. Other stones should be put in our way for this. To the regret of the driver and our fellow passengers, our entry took a little longer than we had thought. First we were told we didn't have an ESTA and then we had to fill out the I-95 form, which took a lot of time! If they just handed these things out before you got in line, or at least while you were in line, you could get things done a lot quicker. But well. We then paid 12 USD for the note ... next time we'll fly again or take a rental car, nobody makes such a fuss about it!!!

Despite the slight delay and the loss of three people (family with a young boy) at the border, which the Quickcoach bus driver took very lightly, we arrived in Seattle downtown at 1:50 p.m. on time. I waited with the suitcases and Christian picked up our rental car from Budget. We reserved a Class B vehicle and were given a fairly old and finished black Kia Fort with 27,000 miles on the clock.

Seattle Space Needle

Since we were actually almost exactly in front of it, the first thing we did was go to the Space Needle and the old Expo site. Here you should park in the side streets for only 1.50 USD per hour and not in the official parking lot. The grounds and the pavilions are really great. Very nice is the International Fountain behind the Space Needle, which makes various water features to music.

Seattle – Westpoint Lighthouse

Then we drove to the Westpoint Lighthouse, which is located in Discovery Park. Unfortunately, you can only park here if you have a permit, and this is only available to families with children and pensioners at the entrance to the visitor center. Since we neither have one nor are the other, we would have had to walk until then. But we only noticed that when we were already standing in the parking lot at the Lighthouse. There wasn't enough time to drive back and walk, so Christian stayed by the car and I walked up to the lighthouse and took some pictures. It was such a nice warm day. Just great!

Seattle – Kerry Park

Then we went to Kerry Park. From here you have a fantastic view of the city. Great and just awesome!!!

This was our hotel for the next three nightsRed Lion Inn in Kent. A long way from Seattle, but it was the only reasonably priced one! The hotel is really good and clean. We had a large bed and were given vouchers for two free alcoholic drinks. What more do you want?!
