After check-in at the Ramada - Long Island City we took the subway to Manhattan (Midtown).
Burger at brgr
Our first destination was determined by a deep feeling of hunger. We went to one of the best burger restaurants in New York City - "brgr" (1026th 3rd Avenue). Although the burgers are not really big, they are topped with very tasty beef (100% grass-fed beef). They were served with Russet Potato Fries - very crispy and freshly cut!
Central Park
After lunch, we headed towards Central Park and 5th Avenue. From East Dr. and the beautiful artificial lake "The Pond" we had a great view of the Plaza Hotel on the 59th Street skyline. The ice rink was also still in operation.
Apple Store on 5th Avenue
We left Central Park via East Drive and came directly to the corner of 5th. Avenue / 59th Street. This is the "Mecca" for all Apple fans: the headquarters store! Apple presents and sells its products here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The glass cube is merely the entrance to the store, which is located underground. Due to its popularity, however, it is always quite crowded. If you are serious about buying a product, you should go to another store in New York. At least I got my hands on an iPad2 and was able to familiarise myself with the new features. Unfortunately, all models were sold out.
Rockefeller Centre
After half an hour of "Apple playtime", we walked along 5th Ave. to the Rockefeller Centre. This centrally located building complex consists of 21 skyscrapers and stretches over three blocks. With a height of 259 metres and 70 floors, the General Electric Building is the tallest building in Rockefeller Center and also the tenth tallest in New York. The "Top of the Rock" viewing platform is also located here. The lift is equipped with a semi-transparent ceiling on which a film is shown. Each floor is marked by blue LEDs in the shaft. This creates a beautiful "tunnel effect" and you realise the speed of the lift. The viewing platform extends over 3 floors (67th, 69th and 70th) and offers a unique 360° "all-round view". The top floor is best for photos, as it offers an unrestricted view of the city. Admission to "Top of the Rock" was included in the New York Pass.

Times Square
Shortly before nightfall, we went to Times Square. Even though all the billboards look very impressive, we decided to come back the next few days after dark.
