At the end of 2023, the time had finally come: The Lounge Leipzig/Halle opened at my home airport, Leipzig/Halle. During the coronavirus pandemic, the Lufthansa lounges in Leipzig and at many other smaller airports in Germany were completely shut down. And even when travel activity picked up again in 2022, the lounges remained closed. So it was welcome news to discover this new lounge and see what it had to offer before my flight from Leipzig to Frankfurt.
The Hilton Berlin is the largest five-star hotel in the capital and boasts a fascinating history. Until now, I'd only experienced Turkish Airlines in Economy Class and Premium Economy, which has since been discontinued. On our trip to Kuala Lumpur this year, we finally got to try out Turkish Airlines Business Class on the Airbus A321. The Tempelhof Lounge at BER Airport is the second large airport lounge at the new capital city airport. We were privileged to visit it before our early morning flight with Turkish Airlines. This time we went to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus during the Whitsun holidays. On the return journey, we were lucky enough to fly Aegean Airlines Business Class in the Airbus A321neo from Athens to Berlin.
Aegean Airlines is still one of my favourite airlines for travelling within Europe. The crew members are always friendly and welcoming and pride themselves on providing genuine Greek hospitality. To renew my frequent flyer status, I have to take four flights with the airline every year. I normally use my Business Class upgrade vouchers for these flights. However, as we were travelling to Cyprus as a family today, we took our seats in Aegean Airlines Economy Class and were curious to see if the service behind the curtain was just as good.
