In a few weeks we're flying to Singapore and then on to the Malaysian island of Langkawi. We're currently in the middle of preparations for this trip.

flight booking
We booked the flights to Asia with SWISS From Berlin via Zurich to Singapore. The return flight will also be with SWISS to Zurich. However, we'll be flying to the new SWISS destination of Dresden. Firstly, this airport is still missing from my statistics, and secondly, SWISS is still using the Avro RJ100 on this route. I definitely want to fly this four-engine short-haul jet, colloquially known as the "Jumbolino," one more time before it's phased out at the end of 2015.

Hotels
Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore
We'll be staying at the Grand Mercure Roxy in Singapore for three nights. We've booked a superior room with a king-size bed, including breakfast. I'm also looking forward to the Executive Lounge on the 17th floor, which we have access to thanks to my Le Club Platinum status.
The Danna Langkawi
We will spend a total of seven nights on Pulau Langkawi. The island has a number of hotels, so there's something for every travel budget.
We spent the first two nights at the five-star resort The Danna Langkawi We've decided. We're just as excited about the luxurious British colonial-style rooms as we are about the white sandy beach right next to the hotel. After our stay, you'll receive a... detailed review received with many pictures.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur
At the end of our trip, we'll spend three nights in Kuala Lumpur. We booked a very affordable room there using the Points&Cash rate. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur booked.

I'm curious to see how Singapore has changed since my last visit in 2011 (see previous posts for further reading: Rainy day in Singapore, Multiculturalism in Singapore).
Shopping for travel preparation
Since one of our suitcases was on the last Trip to the West Coast of North America Since our old suitcase was badly damaged, we bought a new one for our Southeast Asia trip. As I've owned a TITAN suitcase for quite some time and am more than satisfied with its quality, we quickly found what we were looking for. We found the [suitable suitcase model] on Amazon. TITAN Backstage Suitcase, 75 cm, 95 Liters, Black at a very reasonable price.
Our camera equipment has also increased. Up until now, we've always been satisfied with the lightweight and versatile... GorillaPod tripod by Joby On the go. This is truly perfect for theoretically attaching the camera to any surface. In practice, however, this isn't always possible, and it's also not stable enough for long exposures. For this reason, we looked into travel tripods in preparation for our trip to Southeast Asia. The selection in this product segment is huge, ranging from €30 to well over €300. We'll start with a slightly more expensive entry-level tripod from... Mantona Tripod with ball head.
For your stay on the Malaysian island of Langkawi, we recommend an effective insect repellent suitable for tropical climates, protecting against mosquitoes and ticks. (My...) Southeast Asia trip 2011 I've already had good experiences with the product. NOBITE Skin Spray, 100 ml Done. It is important that the active ingredient DEET (diethyltoluamide) is included.
