Orchard Road, Chinatown and Lau Pa Sat

Orchard Road – Singapur

Chinatown – Singapur

The lively street with lots of small souvenir shops is a Mecca for all shopaholics. Actually, the range is the same everywhere. We found a beautiful fridge magnet for our collection.

Souvenir shops in Chinatown

At the beginning or end of the road, depending on which side you are coming from, is the beautifully ornate Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple. The same applies to women and men, if you want to come in here, you have to wear clothes that cover your knees and you have to take off your shoes.

On our further way we passed the Telok Ayer Green Park. Here we rested a little and listened to the great Asian sounds of the Chinese temple next door. What a small oasis of calm in the middle of the urban jungle.

Lau Pa Sat – Festival Pavilion Singapore

This linchpin around food should be really good. Here, in a large pavilion, there is everything an Asian palate desires. Indian, Chinese, Thai, and and and ... you can just try it out. And if you really want to take a risk, go to Wendy's ;) the American fast food restaurant is also there. But you can also eat Italian and Turkish dishes here. The adjacent street was even closed for the evening so that more tables and chairs could be set up. We had read that Satay No. 6 is supposed to taste very good, but they were just starting to fire up the grill. We were just too early. So we took the subway to Gardens by the Bay.
