We won tickets to the Frequent Traveler University (FTU), which took place in Berlin from June 10 to 12, 2016. The FTU offered interesting insights into various customer loyalty programs offered by hotels and airlines during its presentations. The venue was the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade. So, it made sense to book a room for two nights there.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Where is the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade located?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade is located on the L\u00fctzowufer, near the Tiergarten park and Kurf\u00fcrstendamm. Unfortunately, the hotel is not particularly well-connected to public transportation. There is only one bus stop nearby. The nearest subway or S-Bahn station is a 15-minute walk away. The hotel entrance is covered with glass elements and separated from the street by a water wall. Through the outdoor area of Harry's New York Bar, guests enter the beautifully designed lobby. Here, in addition to the reception, you'll also find the Ellipse Lounge Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What are the rooms like at the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Our room, number 430, was on the fourth floor and furnished with two comfortable queen-size beds. At 29 square meters, it was a comfortable size. To the right of the entrance area was a closet with a suitcase rack, clothes rack, bathrobe, and ironing station. Opposite was the entrance to the spacious bathroom with a shower\/tub combination and, of course, towels and high-quality toiletries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In the room itself, we found a comfortable seating area with a side table featuring interesting literature, a desk, and a lowboard attached to it by the large window. This cabinet housed, among other things, the safe, a well-stocked minibar, a Tassimo pod machine (with free coffee and tea pods), and a small 32" flat-screen TV. For working, the desk provided a power outlet and an Ethernet cable. However, there was no proper desk chair. Wired or Wi-Fi internet access in the room is free for status guests. Otherwise, a fee of EUR 9.95 per 24 hours applies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is breakfast like at the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The extensive breakfast buffet is served in the Elements Restaurant on the ground floor. The selection is excellent, and even though the restaurant is very busy, the service is very friendly. The tables are set like those in a 4-star hotel. Coffee, a variety of fine teas, and juices are served at your table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The buffet is located in an adjoining room of the restaurant. The selection is good and certainly sufficient. On the right side, there's muesli (including my favorite, the berry muesli from mymuesli), natural yogurt in various fat contents, freshly sliced fruit, and delicious compote. On the left side, there are freshly baked rolls, croissants, small pastries, and jam (some homemade), honey, and Nutella. The pancakes were a convenience product, and unfortunately, some of them were still frozen in my case. That's not appropriate for a 4-star hotel! In the large and middle areas of the breakfast buffet, you can have delicious egg dishes freshly prepared in various variations and help yourself to an extensive selection of cheeses, sausages, and fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is the Executive Lounge like at the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Club Lounge is located on the ground floor of the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade. The beautifully designed lounge was recently renovated and features modern, high-quality furnishings. I particularly like the high ceilings and parquet flooring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Various seating options, including rustic wingback chairs and a long bench along the back wall, are designed to meet the individual needs of visitors. Ample power outlets are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A continental breakfast is served from 7 to 9 a.m. The selection is very comprehensive and is recommended for those for whom breakfast in the restaurant is not included in their room rate. Small snacks, soft drinks, and coffee\/tea are sometimes offered during the day. In the evening, various snacks are offered between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Our menu included cold pizza slices, antipasti on couscous, tomato soup, and cake. Wine and beer were available for drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
