We had actually already "worked through" our to-do list for our stay on the C\u00f4te d'Azur, so we used the last full day to take a trip to the small harbor town of Antibes. It turned out to be not so small after all, with a population of 74,120. However, we didn't really notice much of this size in the harbor or the old town.<\/p>\n\n\n

We parked our car in a small parking lot at the entrance to the town. It was free and advertised as the starting point for Fort Carr\u00e9. We circled this star-shaped fort, from where we had a great view of the harbor. A visit wasn't worth it for us.<\/p>\n\n\n

We then crossed the harbor area. There, we marveled again at the many small and large ships. The largest yachts usually have at least two boats, one of which is just for cleaning. The largest ship we caught on camera today was the 124.40-meter-long "Katara." This belongs, of course, to the current Emir of Qatar.<\/p>\n\n\n

After a lunch break at the entrance to Antibes' harbor, we explored the city center. We loved the small weekly market, which offered spices, flowers, meat, fish, and vegetables. To experience the real market activity, however, you should arrive before lunchtime. Before heading back to our car, we took a little time to stroll through the charming little streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After getting back to the car, we drove south to Cape Antibes. There are many villas and luxurious hotels and restaurants. The coast is very rocky, but there are still a few nice spots for swimming.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
