After arriving in San Francisco, we wanted to make the most of our half-day. So we drove our super sleek rental car (a fully loaded Chrysler) to Twin Peaks. This was our third time in SFO, so it was high time we visited them. The two hills, at 276 meters (northern peak) and 277 meters (southern peak), are the second highest natural elevations in San Francisco. The weather was so clear, and the view stretched for miles. It was almost 30\u00b0C (86\u00b0F), in October, mind you, and the sun was blazing \u2013 simply perfect. The view over Downtown, Market Street, and the Golden Gate Bridge was absolutely stunning!<\/p>\n\n\n

Hawk Hill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After that, we drove to the Golden Gate Bridge and up to Hawk Hill. Unfortunately, there was construction going on there last time we visited, so we were all the more delighted to be able to drive up there today. The view was breathtaking. A little way above the parking lot is an old military station. Only remnants of old buildings and bunker entrances remain. But if you walk that last short distance up, the view of San Francisco is even better.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sausalito<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Then we continued on to Sausalito. This pretty little harbor town is a real tourist magnet. It was absolutely buzzing! Since we'd been there before and knew the place, we drove through the center, always along Main Street, until we reached the Floating Homes. It's a community of stylish little houseboats. But they only looked small from a distance. Some were huge and completely finished. We're pretty sure none of them were still seaworthy. They were fully connected, with electricity, water, and sewage. It must be a really great neighborhood!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our hotel for the next few nights is the Hampton Inn in Union City<\/a>. It only reopened in January of this year, and you could still smell the paint in the room. Everything is spotlessly clean, really stylish, and incredibly spacious.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
