This morning we took the PATH train back to Manhattan and then the subway to Columbus Circle. From there, we started our long walk in Central Park. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't on our side today\u2026 it was very foggy and drizzling lightly. That just goes to show how good our decision was to go up to Top of the Rock yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n

Strawberry Fields<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There was also a marathon in the park that Sunday. But that didn't stop us from strolling around, since we didn't want to use the main thoroughfares anyway. We started by going to the Dakota Building, where Yoko Ono lives. This is also where the assassination attempt on John Lennon took place. So, our next stop was the Imagine Memorial at Strawberry Fields. A very beautiful, peaceful place. Truly wonderful!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bethesda Fountain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We took a break at the Bethesda Fountain and watched the small rowboats as they paddled across the green pond covered with duckweed. I always thought the pond looked more romantic, but perhaps it was the bad weather today that made it less appealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belvedere Castle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, we walked through the landscaped park to Belvedere Castle. What a cute little castle, with a fantastic view over Central Park\u2014if only the weather were better! ;)<\/p>\n\n\n

Guggenheim Museum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After that, we went to the Guggenheim Museum. I was really looking forward to it because it's my architectural highlight\u2026 unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. From the outside, the building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is truly stunning, but unfortunately, I couldn't judge the interior at all! We only got into the Guggenheim shop! The actual museum entrance had been deliberately covered up so that no one could catch a glimpse inside. How mean!!!<\/p>\n\n\n

So we walked along the park to the Met. There were huge crowds of people in front of it. The entrance hall is really very, very beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to go in.
Afterwards, we went back into the park towards the Plaza Hotel, where "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" is set. We walked across numerous bridges and through many small underpasses. You completely forget at some point that you're still in the middle of New York! It's just a shame that the weather was so bad today that you could hardly see the surrounding skyscrapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finish off the day, we had a delicious dinner at "Shake Shack" and then drove back towards... hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
