This morning we drove back into Montreal, specifically to the old town. Parking is available on some streets, but most spaces have parking meters (max. 2 hours, \u20ac6.00). However, this is still cheaper than the surrounding parking garages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basilica of Notre-Dame de Montreal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, we visited the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal. It's located on Rue Notre-Dame and looks very beautiful from the outside. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the inside because there's an entrance fee and it was packed with Asian tourist groups.<\/p>\n\n\n

H\u00f4tel de Ville<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, we walked to the City Hall, also known as the H\u00f4tel de Ville, which is located nearby. The building is built in the Second Empire style and is truly impressive. The Bonsecours Market, where we walked next, is a wonderful old building with stylish shops inside. It's definitely worth a stroll, even if, like us, you don't buy anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After countless attempts to find a cache in Montreal, we met a nice Australian couple at the old harbor who also hadn't had much luck geocaching. It has to be said, though, that it was really difficult with the sparse descriptions (some only in French)!
