After a very good breakfast with fresh fruit, smoothies, yogurt, and many other delicious things, we set off for Boston for the second time. In just 30 minutes, we were in the heart of the city via the interstate. Our destination was the second part of the Freedom Trail through Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n

Boston - Copp's Hill Burying Ground<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, we went to Copp's Hill Burying Ground. This cemetery is situated on a small hill and, in the sunshine, looks quite picturesque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boston \u2013 USS Constitution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, we went to the USS Constitution in Boston Harbor. What a proud old ship! We visited the beautifully designed USS Constitution Museum. Admission is free, or a recommended $5 entrance fee is required. Museums here operate a little differently than they do here. It's much more hands-on and primarily aimed at children. German museums could take a leaf out of their book.<\/p>\n\n\n

Boston - Bunker Hill Monument<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before we left Boston, we went to the Bunker Hill Monument. The monument, with its 294 steps, stands on a hill in a very nice residential area. Of course, we had to climb it to enjoy the view of Boston. Truly magnificent! From up here, you could see everything very well. No wonder important battles of the Revolutionary War were fought from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we headed out of Boston to Nahant. This small peninsula seemed like an exclusive suburb to us. You need a ticket to park here, which you can get for free from the police station at the town entrance. Unfortunately, we found out too late and were initially surprised why we weren't allowed to park anywhere. So we just drove around town. But even that was fantastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marblehead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the way to Marblehead, we took a detour to an offshore peninsula to cache. There was a lighthouse, among other things, which wasn't the prettiest, but we had a fantastic view of the Atlantic. Once we arrived in Marblehead, we chilled out in the sun at the harbor for a bit and used the Wi-Fi at the nearby restaurant to Skype home. Afterward, we went for a walk in the lovely little fishing village. Such an idyllic place, you can't help but rave about it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, we had to move on, but our next destination was Rockport. The next beautiful fishing village! We returned to the "Eagle House Motel<\/a>"A really cute little motel, decorated with great attention to detail and a very friendly owner. He even recommended a short walk around town that evening. It's so safe and quiet here, he said, that you can even stroll through the streets at night. But we were so tired and just wanted to go to bed.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
