The Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER Comfort Class was one of the first premium economy seats on the airline market. Thanks to an upgrade, we were able to experience the premium cabin and service on the short flight from Dubai to Istanbul.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Journey from Abu Dhabi to Dubai<\/h2>\n

Around 6 p.m., we set off on the 140-km journey from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. We wanted to visit the Dubai Mall one last time to marvel at the famous water features.<\/p>\n

Since the locals were having the weekend today, there was absolute traffic chaos at the mall. The parking garage was overcrowded, and we were only moving at walking pace, which was sometimes quite critical given the aggressive driving of the locals. The law of the jungle still prevails in traffic here. Luckily, we finally found a parking space after 60 minutes. Unfortunately, due to this delay, we were only able to see one more show.<\/p>\n

In our opinion, the rental car return at Dubai Airport was quite chaotic. There are no signs or other instructions. However, we still knew where we had picked up the car, on parking deck A2, and tried to sort things out that way. I think the solution of having the rental car stations outside is much better. After exactly 1,234 kilometers, we returned the small rental car. It had suffered quite a bit under our care. :)<\/p>\n

Check-in at Dubai Airport<\/h2>\n

Since we had expected much heavier traffic, which wasn't so bad, we arrived at check-in with a three-hour lead time. I had already seen online that our flight home was very well booked. The gentleman at the Business Class counter tore up our original tickets and, after a brief phone call, gave us the happy news that we would be upgraded to the better Comfort Class today. Yipeeee!!! The first time I've received an upgrade since I achieved Star Alliance Gold status. I was familiar with Comfort Class from previous flights.\u00a0flights<\/a>, after Turkish Airlines made a pricing error from Hong Kong to Los Angeles in 2011. We were pleased with the improved space and comfortable reclining seats.<\/p>\n

Lufthansa Senator Lounge (Dubai)<\/h2>\n

We headed to the departure area and looked for the Lufthansa Senator Lounge. According to the employee and my invitation, the lounge used by Turkish Airlines in Dubai would only allow one person. Christin, as a guest, was no problem in the rather small Lufthansa Senator Lounge. Since Lufthansa pilots are currently on strike, resulting in many flights being canceled, it was fortunately quite empty. Only Swiss was flying to Zurich and Austrian Airlines was flying to Vienna. When the passengers for those flights left, we were left alone in the lounge. This allowed me to take a few photos of the lounge.<\/p>\n

The food selection was limited but perfectly adequate. I found the Indian curry dish particularly delicious. There was also a sufficient variety of drinks. After a week without a good beer, a cold wheat beer was a nice treat.<\/p>\n
