Singapore is one of Asia's most exciting cities. It is modern, diverse and surprisingly green. For our stay, we deliberately sought a hotel that was not located in the tourist centre, but was still well connected and offered a high level of comfort. We chose the Conrad Singapore Orchard Road, a hotel with a rich history that reopened under a new name in early 2024 after extensive renovations. In this hotel review, we report in detail on our experiences at the Conrad Singapore Orchard Road in October 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Booking and check-in<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    As almost always, we booked our stay directly through the website of Hilton<\/a>. Firstly, we usually find the best price there, and secondly, all status benefits are clearly defined and can be used without restrictions. In this case, we opted for the Conrad Singapore Orchard during a sale. With a nightly rate of just under \u20ac200, we felt the offer was absolutely fair for Singapore and for a hotel of this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When choosing a Hilton Group hotel, however, I don't just look at the room rate alone. For us, it's always the overall experience that counts. In addition to a good location, comfort and positive guest reviews, status benefits play a key role. These include, above all, free breakfast and access to the Executive Lounge with drinks and food in the evening. When these benefits are taken into account, the room rate becomes much more reasonable. Especially in a city like Singapore, this makes it difficult to compare the hotel with other establishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    However, the status recognition at check-in was rather uneventful. We received a printed welcome letter and an automatic upgrade to a King Executive Room, which we gladly accepted. However, upgrades to higher room categories were only available at an additional cost. Personally, we would have liked to see a little more individuality or at least more active communication of the options available \u2013 especially in a hotel of this class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Where is Conrad Singapore Orchard located?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Conrad Singapore Orchard Road is not located directly on the famous Orchard Road shopping street, but slightly set back in a quieter side street not far from it. The approximately 2.5-kilometre-long Orchard Road stretches through the city centre of Singapore and is considered the heart of the upscale shopping district with numerous shopping centres, boutiques and luxury hotels. From the hotel, you can reach this area in just a few minutes while benefiting from a significantly quieter environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The immediate vicinity of the hotel is characterised by high-end residential complexes and other luxury accommodation. Tanglin Place, a small shopping centre, is located right next door and is ideal for quick errands or a quick coffee. Another clear advantage of the location is its proximity to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, which are within walking distance and offer a beautiful contrast to the otherwise very urban surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The building itself has an interesting history. Today's Conrad Singapore Orchard was formerly known as the Regent Singapore. It was designed in the early 1980s by American architect John Portman, who was best known for his hotels with large interior atriums. When it opened in 1982, it was considered the first atrium hotel in Asia. During the coronavirus pandemic, the hotel was completely closed and underwent extensive renovation before reopening as the Conrad Singapore Orchard in January 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Public transport connections are excellent. The nearest MRT station, Orchard Boulevard, is about a five-minute walk away. It's on the brown Thomson\u2013East Coast line. This line takes you to Marina Bay and Gardens by the Bay, among other destinations, in about ten minutes. There are several transfer options to other lines along the way, making it easy to reach almost any part of Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Changing hotels within the city was also seamless. We took the inexpensive number 36 bus from the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay to the Conrad Singapore Orchard. The bus essentially went from one hotel lobby to the other, which was particularly convenient with luggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Overall, we felt the location of the Conrad Singapore Orchard Road was a successful compromise: it is close to Orchard Road, well connected to the transport network and situated in a pleasantly quiet environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What are the rooms like at the Conrad Singapore Orchard?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    A defining feature of the hotel is its iconic atrium, which remained unchanged throughout the extensive renovation. It is an integral part of the architecture and extends across all twelve floors. The interior galleries, from which the rooms are accessed, lend the hotel its open, distinctive structure and immediately make it clear that this is a building with a history. This architectural element continues to shape the atmosphere of the entire hotel \u2013 both positively and functionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The King Executive Room itself was pleasantly spacious and very bright. Light woods, subtle wallpaper, and large windows created a welcoming, almost calming atmosphere. The view overlooked the green cityscape of Singapore, which we particularly appreciated given the location. The lighting was well-designed and pleasantly warm, and the air conditioning operated quietly and unobtrusively. Overall, the room felt modern, high-quality, and significantly fresher than one would expect from the previous Regent era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The room was generally quiet acoustically; we didn't hear any neighbors. However, the room door wasn't completely soundproof. Therefore, movements and conversations in the hallway, as well as muffled sounds from the bars and restaurants in the atrium, were audible. These sounds weren't disturbingly loud, but they were definitely present \u2013 a direct consequence of the building's open architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Immediately upon entering, on the left-hand side, was a wardrobe with sliding doors. It offered a clothes rail, a single drawer, and an upper shelf. However, the latter was already occupied by sofa cushions upon our arrival, as the sofa had been converted into a bed for our son. In addition, there was a safe, fluffy bathrobes, an iron and ironing board, and an umbrella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Opposite the bathroom was the minibar. The chilled drinks were available at the usual, rather high hotel prices. The coffee and tea corner was a welcome feature. A Nespresso machine, a kettle, as well as coffee capsules and teas were provided free of charge. However, it was noticeable that there was no bottled or carton water. Instead, the hotel offered a tap with filtered drinking water. The environmental considerations behind this are perfectly understandable and practical for everyday use in the room. However, the water wasn't chilled, and there was nothing to take with you. We would have appreciated reusable water bottles from the hotel \u2013 that would have been sustainable and could have served as a nice souvenir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To the right of the entrance, a door led to the bathroom, which was very small compared to the rest of the room. Two people definitely couldn't fit in there. There was no bathtub, but a large, walk-in shower with a rain shower head. There was ample storage space, but no electrical outlets. The water pressure fluctuated noticeably at times. The toiletries were from Byredo, specifically from the well-known Mojave Ghost line, which is found in almost all Conrad hotels. A toothbrush, bathrobe, and slippers were provided for children, which we thought was a very thoughtful touch. Upon request, we received a rubber duck with the hotel's name on it; unfortunately, a typical Conrad cuddly toy was not available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The sleeping area flowed seamlessly from the entrance hall. The large king-size box-spring bed, facing outside, offered exceptional sleeping comfort with its thick mattress and two generously sized pillows. An extensive selection of pillows was also available, including a U-shaped cuddle pillow for extra support and a buckwheat hull pillow that conformed perfectly to the head and neck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To the left and right of the bed were bedside tables with power outlets as well as USB-A and USB-C ports. There were also wireless charging pads \u2013 a very modern solution. The television was mounted on the left wall, with a simple bench underneath it. In front of the window was a large sofa, which our son used as a bed. The room was completed by a heavy wooden table with a dark marble top and a comfortable armchair with a light-colored fabric pattern. However, the television was poorly positioned, so it was only partially visible from the bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Upon our arrival, a welcome gift awaited us. It consisted of various chocolates, chocolate milk for our son, fresh grapes, and a personal greeting card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Overall, our room at the Conrad Singapore Orchard Road made a very good impression. It was modern, bright, and comfortable with many thoughtful details. Minor drawbacks, such as the very compact bathroom, the lack of soundproofing from the hallway, and the lack of bottled water, only slightly marred the overall impression. These didn't detract from the fact that we felt very comfortable there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is breakfast like at the Conrad Singapore Orchard?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Breakfast was served in the Basilico restaurant. The hotel's Italian restaurant opened onto the pool area. A classic buffet was offered, supplemented by freshly prepared dishes that were brought directly to the table. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and shown to our seats. This lent the entire experience a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    An exclusive, separate area was available for Hilton Honors Diamond members. However, this was already fully booked during our visit, so we were shown to an adjacent seating area. This turned out to be a very pleasant alternative. We particularly liked a kind of raised terrace overlooking the lobby. The decor was both high-quality and inviting: heavy armchairs with blue floral patterns, a brown bench, dark wood, and thick carpets. Overall, there was a warm, tranquil atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed breakfast. In addition to this area, there were further seating options in the main room and in several adjoining rooms that opened onto the pool. These were somewhat more simply furnished, but still very high-quality. They were noticeably livelier, which made the quiet seating area where we were all the more enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Breakfast left little to be desired. Pancakes and waffles were freshly prepared and served directly at the table. The buffet offered a wide selection of pastries, cold cuts and cheeses, fish, fresh fruit, yogurt, milk, and various plant-based alternatives. The hot food section featured classic breakfast items such as bacon, sausages, and potato wedges. At the egg station, omelets and other egg dishes, including Eggs Benedict, were freshly prepared to order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, there was a wide selection of Asian dishes, including kaya pau, miso soup, various hot dishes, and fresh salads. The offerings were complemented by oatmeal porridge, baked beans, and other international classics. In the exclusive Hilton Diamond area, Prosecco was also offered with breakfast \u2013 a small extra that added a special touch to the start of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Breakfast at the Conrad Singapore Orchard Road was impressive overall, both in terms of quality and variety. We particularly appreciated the different seating areas, which allowed us to escape the morning rush and enjoy breakfast in a quiet and pleasant atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is the Executive Lounge like at the Conrad Singapore Orchard?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Conrad Singapore Orchard Road features a small but very stylish Executive Lounge on the eleventh floor. Access was granted to guests with Hilton Honors Diamond status and those who had booked an Executive Room. Staff controlled entry, giving the lounge a quiet and private atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With around 30 seats, the lounge is quite compact for a hotel with 445 rooms. During our stays, it was never crowded, but it could get quite cramped when the hotel is at full capacity. The Executive Lounge was open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The lounge was divided into three areas. Two of these served as seating areas, while the third, on the far left, housed the buffet. This was built on a large white marble block and included two refrigerated buffet sections as well as several beverage refrigerators, which also contained chilled glasses. The decor strongly resembled the design of the rooms: light and dark wood elements with slats, numerous works of art on the walls, and a mix of light and brown seating and comfortable sofas. We found the two seating areas to be quite cold due to the air conditioning, which resulted in a slight draft in some places. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, there were several small outdoor areas in the form of small balconies furnished with seating. While these were a nice idea in principle, the rather antiquated fans installed there produced a clearly audible rattling noise, making spending time outdoors less pleasant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Coffee, soft drinks, small snacks, and sweets were available in the lounge during the day. This was ideal for a short break between two program items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Breakfast (6:30 \u2013 10:30 am)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The breakfast selection in the lounge was naturally smaller than in the main buffet restaurant, but it was still sufficient and well-chosen. It included classic hot dishes such as bacon, grilled tomatoes, hash browns, and baked beans. The selection was complemented by salads, a variety of cheeses, cold cuts, various pastries, cakes, as well as cornflakes and muesli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A particularly positive aspect was the chef preparing fresh egg dishes. Besides fried eggs, there were also Eggs Benedict. Additionally, waffles and pancakes were freshly made. Fresh fruit rounded off the breakfast nicely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Afternoon Tea (2:00 PM \u2013 4:00 PM)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In the afternoon, a classic afternoon tea was served. The buffet offered a variety of sandwiches, small desserts, quiches, and scones with and without raisins. These were traditionally served with whipped cream and strawberry jam. Specialty coffees and soft drinks were also available. Especially given the warm weather, we regularly enjoyed an iced coffee. However, fresh fruit was not offered at this time of day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Evening Cocktail (6:00 PM \u2013 8:00 PM)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The \u2018Evening Cocktail\u2019 was the most extensive culinary offering of the day. Unfortunately, children under the age of twelve \u2013 including our son \u2013 were not allowed to participate. We found this rule difficult to understand. On a positive note, we were allowed to bring food to our table shortly before the buffet ended at 8 p.m., and our son was then able to join us in the lounge at the end of the Evening Cocktail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The buffet was varied and of high quality. There were several hot dishes with Western, Indian and Asian influences, including pasta and chicken biryani. The selection was complemented by a large selection of cheeses, various salads and several desserts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    An open bar was available for drinks. Beer such as Heineken and Tiger, various wines, prosecco and non-alcoholic beverages were offered. In addition, there were several spirits, ice cubes, lemons and limes, so that guests could mix their own long drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Overall, the Executive Lounge at the Conrad Singapore Orchard Road made a good impression, particularly regarding the quality and presentation of the food. However, the lounge's small size and the strict rules for children in the evening somewhat dampened the experience \u2013 especially for families, who were otherwise very welcome at the hotel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What does the Conrad Singapore Orchard offer for relaxation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For relaxation, the Conrad Singapore Orchard Road primarily offered the outdoor pool and the modern fitness center. Both areas were well integrated into the hotel's overall concept, appeared well-maintained, and were designed to a high standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The pool was open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. It was circular and approximately ten meters in diameter. It was less suitable for swimming laps and more for a quick dip or relaxing in the water. A positive aspect was its relatively deep depth of up to 2.10 meters, which is rather unusual for city hotels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Several sun loungers with well-padded cushions were available around the pool. Some cabanas offered additional comfort and a little privacy. Towels were either already laid out or brought directly to your spot by the staff. We found the service at the pool particularly pleasant: water was served free of charge without having to ask for it \u2013 a small but very thoughtful gesture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    One slight drawback was the direct connection between the pool area and the restaurant. Guests had a direct view of the pool during meals. Those bothered by this might feel observed while swimming, which detracted from the relaxed atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The fitness center was also located right next to the pool area. We didn't use it ourselves during our stay, but it made a very good impression. It was spacious, modernly equipped, and flooded with natural light thanks to large windows along one side \u2013 a definite plus for anyone who doesn't want to miss out on their workout while traveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
