Before our return flight to Germany, we took the opportunity to relax once more at Canc\u00fan Airport. Terminal 4 is home to The Lounge Canc\u00fan (Air Transat). After check-in and security, we looked for a place to spend our last few hours in Mexico relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the terminal. Read our review to find out whether the lounge lived up to our expectations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Where is The Lounge Canc\u00fan located?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Lounge Canc\u00fan is located in Terminal 4 of Canc\u00fan International Airport, past the central security checkpoint. After passing through the duty-free area, we kept left and followed the clearly visible signs toward Gates 53 and 54. The route there is clearly signposted, making it almost impossible to get lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Near Gate 53, a staircase or elevator leads down one floor. There you'll find the entrance to The Lounge by Air Transat, located directly next to the Plaza Premium Mera Lounge. Both lounges are adjacent but have separate access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Who has access to The Lounge Canc\u00fan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We ourselves had access to The Lounge Canc\u00fan with our Priority Pass, which is included with the American Express Platinum Card. Guests with Priority Pass, DragonPass, or LoungeKey are granted access. Children under 12 accompanied by an adult can even enter the lounge free of charge\u2014a plus for families. The lounge is also open 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The lounge is operated in partnership with Air Transat, the Canadian leisure airline. This is quite remarkable, as Air Transat doesn't offer a traditional business class\u2014its "Club Class" is more like a premium economy class and doesn't include lounge access. Accordingly, the lounge is rarely crowded, as only a few Air Transat passengers are admitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition to the usual lounge passes, travelers can also use the Global Lounge Network<\/a> Purchase access. Annual memberships start at $199, or a single membership is available for $38.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is The Lounge Canc\u00fan equipped with?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Canc\u00fan Lounge (Terminal 4, Air Transat) was small but well-equipped. The centerpiece of the lounge was the bar, surrounded by various seating areas. There was an area with white leather armchairs, tables and chairs for dining, and green lounge chairs. There was also a slightly darkened relaxation room with several loungers. During our stay, this relaxation room was free, so we were able to retreat there for a while and relax in peace\u2014a real plus in the otherwise busy atmosphere of the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Next to the relaxation room was a small children's playroom and a separate meeting room, which required advance reservations. There was also a small TV room with comfortable leather armchairs\u2014perfect for making waiting times a little more relaxing. There was also a counter with bar stools around the bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The lounge also had restrooms and showers, as well as free Wi-Fi, which worked reliably during our stay. The numerous power outlets and USB-A ports at many seats were convenient, although only American Type-A plugs were available. There was no natural light, however, as the lounge had no windows to the outside. This made it quite dark, creating a slightly basement-like atmosphere, but at the same time, it was pleasantly quiet. Overall, the interior gave a modern, but slightly worn impression: It was functional and clean, but lacked the charm of a classic premium lounge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is available to eat and drink at The Lounge Canc\u00fan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We were pleasantly surprised by the culinary offerings at The Lounge Canc\u00fan. The buffet offered a small but fine selection. There was cake, fresh fruit, nachos with various salsas, ready-made salads, and a few snacks. This was perfect for satisfying our initial hunger pangs. We found the QR code at our seats particularly useful. This allowed us to order hot dishes directly. The choices included enchiladas, tacos with saut\u00e9ed chicken fajitas and peppers, roasted meat with vegetables, pasta with cream sauce and tuna, and a fresh fruit cocktail. Soup was also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    There was also a good selection of drinks. The refrigerator stocked soft drinks like Fanta, Coke, and Sprite, as well as various beers, orange and cranberry juice. There was also a fully automatic coffee machine and a small selection of teas. Those craving something stronger could have a cocktail or long drink mixed at the bar. From tequila to Absolut Vodka to rum and bourbon, everything was available. This made the wait before departure pleasant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
