After a fantastic stay in the SilverKris Business Class Lounge in Terminal 3, we were looking forward to our flight in Singapore Airlines Regional Business Class in the Airbus A350-900.     How did we book our flight?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    This flight was part of a connecting flight from Kuala Lumpur via Singapore to Bangkok. There are several options in varying price categories for getting from Singapore to the Thai capital, Bangkok. Both low-cost airlines like Scoot and premium carriers like Singapore Airlines or THAI offer direct flights. However, since we knew we wanted to book an award flight, we opted for what we considered the best value and booked a business class flight to Bangkok with Singapore Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I found a good deal through Miles+Bouns, the frequent flyer program of Aegean Airlines, where I also have my Star Alliance Gold status. In total, we earned 97,500 award miles and paid only \u20ac78 including taxes and fees for the Singapore Airlines Business Class flights (for two adults and one child).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is the cabin and seat like in Singapore Airlines Regional Business Class on the Airbus A350-900?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Singapore Airlines uses the Airbus A350-900 on both long-haul, short-haul, and medium-haul routes. However, aircraft with a different cabin configuration are generally used on shorter intra-Asian routes. Our Airbus A350-900 to Bangkok had 40 seats in Business Class and 263 seats in Economy Class. This version does not have Premium Economy like the A350-900 in the standard configuration or in the Ultra-Long-Range (ULR) configuration. The 40 Business Class seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration in a total of 10 rows, which are in turn divided into two cabin sections. The first section has seven rows and the second section has a further three rows. There are two lavatories in between. In the middle row, the seats in the odd-numbered rows are right next to each other, meaning there is no great visual barrier. In the even rows, contact with the person sitting next to you is made more difficult by the greater distance and the storage area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For the flight to Bangkok, I chose seat 20A in the small rear section of Business Class. The seat, finished in a subtle brown-gray, is positioned straight ahead, so you don't have to tilt your legs to the left or right\u2014although there was limited space for your feet. The leg rest also provides ample space for storing shoes. The seat's padding was very good. Furthermore, the Singapore Airlines Regional Business Class seat on the Airbus A350-900 converts into a flat bed. Although the armrests on both sides could be folded down for sleeping, I found the freedom of movement somewhat limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On the side of the seat is a locker containing a power outlet and two USB ports. Originally, the headphones were also stored here. A small mirror can also be folded out here. The shelf below is large enough to hold an iPad or a book. Beneath the side shelf are the controls for the in-flight entertainment and the seat position adjustment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On the other side of the seat are three small lights aimed at the different seating positions. The seats have a privacy screen at head height, which protects against the view of other passengers but also obscures the view out the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The table for eating and working is stored under the monitor and can be extended and opened from there. However, as long as the table was extended, I couldn't get up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is available to eat and drink in Singapore Airlines Regional Business Class on the Airbus A350-900?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Using the booking code, we were able to view the menu for the flight on the Singapore Airlines website a few days before departure. The following three dishes were available: Pan-fried salmon with lemon and caper velout\u00e9, Gaeng Ooi Gai (Thai lemongrass curry chicken with steamed rice and seasonal vegetables), and braised beef brisket in Chu Hou sauce. Since none of the dishes on offer convinced me, I was pleased that Singapore Airlines offers a special service in Business Class with the "Book the Cook" program. Here, you can choose your favorite meal from a variety of Asian and international dishes. Since I had a strong appetite for Indian food, I opted for Makhan Walamurgh (Indian Butter Chicken). Despite the extensive online selection, a menu was still handed out at the beginning of the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition to the main course of choice, there was an appetizer of Yum Som Or Goong (marinated Thai-style shrimp with grapefruit salad) and a delicious coconut bavarois with tropical fruit compote for dessert. All dishes were delivered together on a tray directly from the galley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The beverage selection in Singapore Airlines' Regional Business Class was very extensive. For example, on the flight from Singapore to Bangkok, NV Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Extra Brut champagne was offered. The selection of red and white wines included internationally acclaimed wines from New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia, among others. Alcoholic cocktails such as the famous Singapore Sling and a Screwdriver, aperitifs (Campari), and non-alcoholic mocktails were also on the Singapore Airlines menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Singapore Airlines' entertainment program offered a good selection of films, some with German audio, series, music, and special programs for children. The obligatory airshow, which allowed passengers to follow the flight route, was also included. You could also learn about the in-flight beverage offerings, and various games were available. Noise-cancelling headphones provided pleasant sound. The in-flight entertainment was controlled either by remote control or touchscreen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Most aircraft in the Singapore Airlines fleet are equipped with Wi-Fi. Passengers traveling in Suite, First Class, or Business Class, as well as members of the PPS Club or KrisFlyer program, have access to free Wi-Fi on board certain aircraft. This was also the case on this Regional Business Class flight from Singapore to Bangkok. However, we did not use the internet service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
