The night in Hotel Aegeon<\/a> It wasn't really restful. Since our room faced the main street, it was never truly quiet. The uncomfortable beds and the temperature in the small room didn't help. So we were up around 7 a.m., just in time to photograph the sunrise over Thessaloniki from the balcony.<\/p>\n\n\n

Since breakfast was included in the room rate, we wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed. The coffee was undrinkable, and the only edible food was a banana and a piece of cake. We hoped to make up for it later in the airport lounge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sightseeing (Promenade, Aristotle Square & White Tower)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We used our remaining time in Thessaloniki for sightseeing and geocaching. On the way to the promenade, we noticed the houses were in a rather dilapidated state. Only by the waterfront were there a few nice, renovated hotels and apartments. After a bit of searching, I found our first geocache in Greece at Aristotle Square. A great statistic! Our sightseeing tour then took us to the famous White Tower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thessaloniki weekly market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By chance, we found a weekly market on our way back to the hotel. Here we found fresh fish, meat, and other Greek specialties such as a whole sheep's head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bus to Thessaloniki Airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After checking out of the hotel, we took the express bus 78 to the airport around 11 a.m. The journey took about 35 minutes and was really cheap at \u20ac2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Nacht im Hotel Aegeon war nicht wirklich erholsam. Da unser Zimmer zur Hauptstra\u00dfe hinaus war, herrschte nie wirklich Ruhe.
