This is one of them, the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice, which we chose as our base for our New Year's trip to Venice in 2021\/22.     Booking, arrival and check-in<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Despite the pandemic and the still fairly strict COVID-19 regulations in Italy, the Hilton Molino Stucky was very busy at the turn of the year. We booked the basic room with a king-size bed using a Points&Cash rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Since we had already stayed the night before at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Venice (our Hotel review<\/a>) and is only 30 minutes from Venice, we arrived in the lagoon city accordingly early in the day. We drove over the 3,850-meter-long Ponte della Liberta road bridge, which connects Venice to the mainland, and parked our car in one of the official parking lots. Tip: Hilton hotel guests receive a discount of 20% at Tronchetto Parking (more information about the Parking in Venice<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We took the public water bus, the "Vaporetto," to the island of Sacca Fisola and got off at the stop of the same name. From there, it was just a short walk through the alleys and over a small bridge to the island of Giudecca and the Hilton Molino Stucky. Check-in in the lobby, still decorated for Christmas, was straightforward and friendly. Unfortunately, upgrades for Hilton Diamond members were limited due to occupancy. We were therefore only given a room with a king-size bed and a view of Venice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Where is the Hilton Molino Stucky located?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    As mentioned in the arrival section, the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is located on Giudecca Island. This offshore island is directly opposite Venice's main island, theoretically offering incredible views of the lagoon. Unfortunately, during our winter stay, Venice was often shrouded in fog, largely obscuring the view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To get to Venice's attractions, such as St. Mark's Square, you have to take a boat. You can choose between the public water buses and the hotel's own shuttle boat. The shuttle boat runs regularly, but not several times per hour, directly from the hotel to St. Mark's Square. The public boat stops are about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. We opted for the hotel's offer and paid \u20ac8.50 per adult for the entire stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What are the rooms like (King Guest Room) at the Hilton Molino Stucky?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The hotel, built in an old flour mill, is one of the most impressive buildings on the island. Accordingly, the corridors leading to our room are very winding, and their open-beam structure is reminiscent of an old warehouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Our room was on the second floor and, thanks to the upgrade, offered a view of the main island of Venice. At 23 square meters, the room was quite small, with barely any space other than the king-size bed, a small desk, and a dresser (including a minibar). The decor was dark in color, in keeping with the rest of the hotel, and felt a bit dated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The marble bathroom design was very luxurious, but also a bit dated. In addition to a shower\/tub combination, there was a toilet with an extra bidet and ample storage space at the large vanity. Overall, everything was very clean and well-made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is breakfast like at the Hilton Molino Stucky?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. For us, as status guests, it was free. Otherwise, you have to book it with the room rate or pay separately. After verifying our room number, the wait staff showed us to our table. However, the atmosphere in the restaurant is more like a train station concourse. When there are many guests, it gets very loud, and the room, or rather the acoustics, can hardly compensate for this. The wait staff were very friendly and quick to clear and re-set the tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A carafe of orange juice and filter coffee were already waiting on the table. Other hot drinks such as cappuccino, hot chocolate, or espresso can be ordered at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The buffet was located in an adjoining room of the breakfast restaurant. Getting there can sometimes be a bit cramped, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. However, the buffet itself left little to be desired and was in keeping with the hotel's star rating. It offered various fruits, desserts, cereals, and a variety of hot dishes. My highlight, however, were the three different-sized wheels of Parmesan cheese and the freshly sliced ham. The hotel also offered a breakfast menu where you could order freshly prepared egg dishes such as fried eggs, pancakes, or omelets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is the Executive Lounge like at the Hilton Molino Stucky?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Executive Lounge is located on the ground floor of the hotel and is a separate area from the Lobby Bar. Access is available via an activated room card if you are a Hilton status guest or have booked a room\/suite of a certain category or higher. Opening hours are limited compared to other Hilton hotels. The lounge is only open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and a happy hour is offered from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We found the food and drink selection in the Executive Lounge to be very limited for a five-star hotel. During the day, there were coffee specialties, soft drinks, and small snacks like cookies and chips. During happy hour, alcoholic beverages (beer, red and white wine, and prosecco) and cold sandwiches were also offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
